Hello ,I've almost come to an end on upgrading my new machine. I wanted to get a usb tv tuner ,but I'm not sure which one to go for.

I've seen this cinergy one ,http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=319478&view=detailed.

    Any ideas ?

I presume this is for use with Windows Media Centre built into Vista, if so you need MCE compatible tuners like this PCI or USB model which will suffice. The Vista drivers for the cards can be gotten on AverMedia's UK website.

If you don't need Media Centre support then you can use any tuner you want.

I have the Hauppauge WinTV PVR USB2. I haven't used it on Vista yet as I'm in the process of assembling my new system, but according to the Hauppauge website, Vista won't be an issue.

Thanks for the replies ,I've not yet ordered a card yet. I will go for the aver media ,one thing thats bugging me though.

What way does the sound operate ?, Does it pass through the bus and into the sound card ,or does it need to be plugged into the sound card directly?

That works fine on Vista. You do need to install a new driver from Windows Update though. I used it with Vista RC2. It worked fine in Media Centre [after installing software to play DVDs :o] but it didn't work in the Win TV 2000/32 program that you use on XP.

In most cases, it's passed through the bus so no need for extra connections to sound card.

    luvvy jubby ,thanks ethernet ;)

I'm swaying for a pci card instead because ,I've got an xfi xmod, webcam, freeagent pro drive ,bluetooth keyboard and mouse running on USB at the moment.

Im not sure my bus should take anymore ???

    What about PCI Express?

This one is a dual digital tuner though:

I have an express slot alright ,I will have another look . I like the colour of that card ;)

For some reason ,I like the look of the cards with the two big revievers for fm/tv. Digital only is not much use to me .
