What do you guys use to align dishes. I have just been on a web site and was one click away from buying a satlook micro, i thought i would ask here first before i went ahead.

Is it something you'll intend using often?

Satlook meters are usually very good.

Good ones are expensive once you get beyond basic satfinders

Well, it certainly seems like a good meter, though I'd consider it rather expensive for occasional DIY at over £200stg.

    Maybe a second hand meter?

I currently use a Wolsey Sat Meter 3, Its a nice meter with an easy interface, but I have had continuous problems with it freezing on me, and unfortunately it doesn't have a reset button, so I have to remove its cover each time which is annoying..

I'm considering purchasing a Horizon Digital Sat meter in the future.

The Wolsey looks like a clone of the Lacuna? Maybe it is the new name for it.

I use a Horizon, and it's very good. Only downside I see in the future is the female F connector not being replaceable like the Lacuna/Wolsey, where you just stick in an F barrel. Otherwise grand. And having a Fig8 mains connection is handy.

I think the lacuna is the name for the sat meter2 and the name Wolsey was mostly used on the Satmeter 3, same manufacturer but the sat meter 3 is more user friendly.

The other main advantage of a satmeter 3 over its predecessor's is it has a USB connection so its easier to configure from a computer for the satellites you wish to program it for.

Thanks for the info bout the Horizon meter Byte...will probably purchase one shortly.

If you do get the Satlook, I'd appreciate if you came back and gave your opinion on what you think of it.

hi folks im after the same, basically what i am looking for is if i point my dish at a satellite and get a strong signal , that the sat finder can tell me on screen what satellite i am pointing at?

is this possible? i was looking at the lacuna 3 sat meter

Probably not in the same league as the meters mentioned but I have a Technomate which has worked well for me.
