Iaudio X5 problem!

FOr the last few days my player was lowering its volume down to 0 by itslef, totally randomly. Now the player goes up and down in volume and then in and out of albums. All by itself. Its constantly scrolling up and down albums and i cant select anything! There is absoloutly no control over the song/album/volume selection.

It doesnt appear to be a joystick problem but more of a software problem as it keeps putting hold on and off by itself and the A/B buttons.
    Its a euro model to.

So i believe it to be a software problem. The only problem is i have upgraded the software twice now and its just gotten worse each time. As originally i thought it was just a software problem.

Is the unit wrecked beyond repair do you think? Any ideas or suggestions on how to fix it? Ive had the player 2 years now and have never had any problem with it and i would be devestated if it was broke beyond repair.

This just happened totally out of the blue, the day beofre i go on holidays to!

The same thing happened with my creative zen, you could try formatting it. Anyway check Cowans support forums, I read some are have trouble with firmware freezing x5 players and other buggy stuff.

have you tried the iaudiophile forums? there's a wealth of knowledge there. I have a cowon D2 and not an X5 so I cannot help you unfortunately, but if I could I certainly would try my best.

Yep ive posted onto both iaudiophile and the american iaudio forums.

Im so pissed of this happened whilst on holidays, im musicless now and going crazy!

Hopefully a reformat will work, otherwise i'll be waiting for the X7 to come out or may get a creative vision M

I wonder if your X5 got wet at any point over the last couple of days, cos your issues seem very, very odd

I had a similar problem with my first X5. It was as if down was constantly pressed. Had to get it replaced :/

Didnt get wet,i keep it mint and in a protective cover.

Back from the holiers. Have formatted it, reloaded firmware etc but nothing.

Emailed cowon germany and then rang them due to no reply and they said i would hav to post it to korea to get it fixed and that it would probly better to get a new player as it will cost a fortune with postage and the repair work.

I got another X5 thats broke (my sisters boyfriends old one), it just doesnt turn on. i wonder if i could fix one form parts of both?

Or if anyone wants to buy 2 broken iaudio x5l's, make me an offer!

    No your grand there thanks.

Peats have said they will try send it of for me, if i provide them with my warrenty card and reciept! DAm this thing is 1.5 years old and ive moved house twice since then! So doubt I will be able to find it, even if i did its unlikely they could fix it, but its worth a shot i suppose!

This isn't a for sale forum. If you want to sell your broken MP3 players, do it somewhere else.
