Changing to Sky

HI, I'd appreciate some advice about switching. I'm currently on the NTL basic digital package (sans Movies and Sport) and am considering moving to one of the new SKy offers (possibly mix 4).

Is it possible to get other channels (Cbeebies) tuned in from the Astra satellite?

Also I have an LG HDD PVR - does the digital box come with scart and can you record? Are there any limitations?

    Thanks

Cbeebies and CBBC are both on Sky's EPG. You can also tune them in manually if you use a free-to-air satellite receiver. Most channels are on the EPG. Some can't afford it however and these can be tuned in manually provided they are encrypted in videoguard or are not encrypted at all.

If you're changing to Sky, you can replace your NTL box with the Sky box. Most cables will probably be in place. The installer should provide a new scart lead for the digibox. Connect this to your LG device using the 'VCR' [aux.] scart. There's only real limitation unless you get Sky+. That is you can only watch whatever you would be recording, i.e. you couldn't watch one programme on Sky while recording another on Sky. If this would inconvenience you, I'd suggest you go for Sky+ instead.

I'm also thinking about switching to sky. However I also have NTL digital which I'm happy with. If I switch to Sky will this affect my broadband in any way. Also home much extra is multiroom with sky?

Sky will not affect your broadband or NTL. However, if you cancel your NTL subscription, you'll lose your broadband connection too AFAIK.

Sky Multiroom is an extra €15 per month per room/box.

Just out of curiousity - why are you changing to Sky if you're happy with NTL digital?

Sorry, I meant I am happy with the broadband service, its just that Sky seems to offer a little more regarding programmes. Think I will probably stay put.

True. You have to take the TV and radio services even if you only want broadband.

CBeebies , CBBC , BBC news 24, and ITV are not on the EPG in ROI and have to be tuned in via other channe4ls . They also can not be recorded on Sky+ and you can not set reminders for channels not in the EPG.ie you would have to manualy set up recordings on a non sky PVR

Oops -- I have a FTV card. It's on the UK EPG so.
