Having taken up mountain biking lately I'm spending a bit more time in the forest nowadays. However I can't seem to be able to translate the atmosphere of the forest into my photos if you know what I mean  I know these shots are pretty meagre but I've only managed to get 2 shots I'm happy with in the past month so any tips would be great.

    Well done, mate.

2 and 4 are my favourites, the 6th one reminds me of a robert frost poem....:D

    Sorry mate...
The first one ase so shiny, that the colours jumps out of the picture so it is disturbing for me.
The BW looks more pretty, but it has not enough shades(tones) of gray.
If you want to kill me - go to the end of the queue :D

The first one is very green indeed but I like. Four looks well to me.

Thanks for the replies everyone. The black and white seems to work better than the vivid colours so.I'll work on it over the coming weeks.

No worries,as you can tell I love my greens so I may have saturated them a bit too much :o

    The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
    To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
    Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
    Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Robert Frost, twas easily my faveourite poem at school :)

The Road Not Taken came to mind to me before scrolling down as well. Lovely shots, nice atmosphere you have captured here, particularly like the 3rd and 4th ones.

I think you could read up more about metering.
Also, the light is your friend - if you tried those photographs in the evening time, I think you'd have better results.

    Original post from Fenster here

Some more info and an example here

Nice shots by the way, but a shade bright for my taste.

In terms of atmosphere I think you're succeeding most with number four, nice shot. You're really blasting your highlights out of it in some of the colour shots, would look a lot more natural with hdr and less saturation.

Yeah I have an awful habit of using auto too much even though I know I'm not getting the best results.I'll just have to take more time in the future.

The colours in that lightroom set are fantastic.I'll have to give it a go later.
    Thanks for the links.

I've tried HDR a few times but not to great effect,so I'll just try and keep away from the vivid colours I seem to love.
