    Hi All,

with these postings I've seen recently talking about IR photography (which I'm suddenly fascinated by!), I decided to do a trawl to find out about its cousin, Ultra-Violet photography.

I discovered a pretty comprehensive site by a guy who is obviously very enthusiastic about it (see here).

Of course it wasn't till I got well down through the article that I realised that you need to remove the optical coating from your lenses !!

So my question is, has anybody here been brave enough to try it?

    Thanks

Actually, its far worse, do a check on just how much those special UV lenses actually cost. Most UV-specific lenses are actually ground out of Quartz, not glass, because glass (and particularly coated glass) blocks a lot of the UV light. And those lenses are Expensive !

Yeah, the guy mentions that if you get a simple lens with a limited number of elements, it can be acceptable. But then he also says that none of the elements should be cemented together, and multi-coated lenses make it worse.

Of course he also points out that he has one of the fancy quartz lenses designed for UV photography.

Anyway, just wanted to see if there was anybody doing it in this country.
