Convert VHS-C tape to DV

    Hi,

I have a single VHS-C tape - probably about and hour or so in length, that I want to convert to DV format (for import into iMovie). I want to get the raw files, and not just an MPEG-2 encoded DVD.

Is there anybody here with the equipment available to do this, and if so, what cost will be involved? I will, of course, pay for any postage, blank DVDs for the files, etc.

    Thanks,

    Steve

Love to help ya but my Video-In PCMCIA card hasn't been working since I formatted my laptop, I dunno where the driver CD is and finding a driver for it on the net is a joke.

Anywho, could you not go to someone in your area that possibly does all the camera crap like weddings and stuff. They'd have the equipment and unless they're dicks it shouldn't cost that much.

Hello Steve, where are you situated?

I can lend you a Canopus ADVC-300 to get the task done. You'd need the VHS-C camcorder to feed into the Canopus, then that into the PC or Mac (Firewire).

Its been so long since I've used it, not even sure you can plug the camcorder into it.

That would definitely leave you with 'raw' DV footage.

I don't have the means to travel far from Dublin city, and I'd be wary of sending this by post.

Also, each 60 minutes of DV footage I think takes up about 20GB.
