    As the title says.

Is there recruiters that can do this for you ? Will they or the employer handle Visa's etc ?

    Thanks.

Unless you have a skill that an employer is unable to find in the states you won't get a visa

Unless you have a skill that an employer is unable to find in the states you won't get a work visa, thats presuming your a regular punter whos looking to move over.

I have a few friends who've gone over on secondment with large multinationals and thats about your best option I'm afraid.

Not a chance mate. Another option is to get a job here with an america company and after year/18 months if your'e good enough you might be able to put in for a transfer - even then there is alot of legal/visa stuff to get through and it can take a while to get a H1B (Temp VISA).

Recently tho I've got emails from firms on monster who say they are willing to get visa's/H1B's so it might be worth putting your CV on monster and picking US as your desired location (as opposed to Ireland)

Also check out this site http://www.myvisajobs.com/reports/
It lists all the firms that get H1B (So you can see which firms get visas for their workers - you will see the accounting firms are the biggest due to the fact that they encourage employees to go on secondment like calstron says above)

Just curious - what qualifications/experience do you have?

I've an honours degree in IT, emphasis on software development.

Experience of about 2 years in a development environment r&d department of a telecommunications company.

But i'd work at anything temporarily, i'm moving over to be with the better half.

I've been down this route. It's a nightmare. I ended up moving my better half over here.

Even if they marry, that does not entitle automatic citizenship for the spouse. You'll be waiting about two years before you can (legally) work even if you go down this route.

You see, how many more people are there over in the US with similar qualifications/experience? Companies are only allowed hire foreign workers when they have proved they cannot find a US employee to do the job.

Unfortunately, you would want a highly specialised area of expertise for them to hire you. I was reading recently about a girl from Cork who won the Young Scientists exhibition, some kind of cryptography based project won it for her, as far as I remember. She is working in the US now for a security company. This is the kind of level of expertise you need to be at, I'm afraid.

You really need to be a specialist within IT if you want to get a visa.
I interviewed for a company over there for a very very specific role.

The best they could do initially was ask me to move to their irish base while they got my H1 visa sorted but apparently they need to be submitted by March of each year to be valid from the following oct. So IF you managed to get a company to sponsor you it could be a long wait.
