Lake District Recommendations

    Can anyone recommend a village to stay in in the Lake District? I've heard Grasmere and Windemere are nice, but am looking for accommodation recommendations.

    We'd like somewhere within walking distace of restaurants/bars.

    I've been self catering around Windermere with family. It's a lovely area though it does get quite busy being the architypal Lake District town - a bit like going to Dingle or something!

    Thanks for that John. I've been on that site alright, and one the internet search thing. I was really looking for personal recommendations if anyone has any... I always like the word of mouth recommendation!
