Bored by the Irish weather so thinking of heading Interrailing East of France which apart from Switzerland, Austria and Holland is a region I have not seen alot of. Was thinking of starting in Amsertdam - the girl wants to see the diamonds  .

Could people offer any advice in this regard re routes etc.

Has anyone tried interrailing with a tent? If so could you suggest the best cities to camp near and any other gems of information you may have.

I interailed with my then girlfriend about 15 years ago and brought a tent with us but abandoned it half way through! It was much easier to get cheap hotels, hostels or use overnight trains. If I was going again I wouldn't bother with the hassle of carrying a tent.

Krakow is a fantastic city, which I wouldn't hesitate to return to. It may be a bit too far east for you but there are lots of other great places over in Eastern Europe like Budapest, Lake Bled in Slovenia or the many sunny islands in Croatia.
