    Hey Folks,

I'm selling something on eBay and I have a reserve price of €100. There is a chap in england (with good feedback) that would to pay for the item and have me end the auction early.
I have seen in several sales before that people reserve the right to end acutions early. Can I do that in this case, even though I don't have that 'disclaimer' in the text?

I'm fairly sure you can yeah. I mean a seller ended one early for me in the past. I think its fine to do this, assuming there is no outstanding bids on the item... Its your sale so you can end it if you choose to.

YOu might be able to alter the auction and add a buy it now, though it costs you a little more. Best would be cancel it, think it can be done if there are no bids yet, and I see no reason it cant be if no bid is at the reserve either, but it might be against the rules.

Better to do the deal outside of ebay to avoid fees, if they trust you.

    From eBay:
If a member contacts you to ask you to accept a final price for your item, it's against eBay rules to end the listing then sell the item to them directly

    See http://pages.ebay.ie/help/sell/questions/endlist-now.html for more information.

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for the information. There are no bids at the moment so I've contacted the guy about adding a 'Buy It Now' option. I'll add that if he wants it.

Make sure its not a scam.... he could be doing to this 100s of users and keeping his 100% feedback because you have no recourse when selling privately....

Against the rules because they loose out on the commission!!

I won a book from a guy, post was high so I got him to end another book auction before it closed. This way both were sent at the same price. He got a decent price for the second book, and only had to pack and post 1 parcel, -everyones a winner but ebay. He could have not sent the other book but would have got neg for the first, and he had good feedback from others.

Make sure its not a scam....
Cant see how, if he pays via paypal- outside of ebay- then it looks like he is the only one that could be scammed.

By using buy it now you have to pay more to ebay, cancel now and you save

i wouldn't recommend that you end the item early

if you dont want the item to sell under a certain price then you shud use the 'buy it now' option or the 'reserve price' feature..

if you end early you'll save yourself a Final Value fee but wot about the listing fees you've already paid- you wont get a refund on them
