Yeah everybody has been getting that.

Go to System Prefs/Accounts and remove that from your startup items, 3rd tab on the menu I think, under "Login Items"... just select the SuperDrive app and remove from the list.

It was autoinstalled on the last update to be a login item - which is crap.

    Hope that helps!

I had this with a MacBook recently too. What 440Hz says will do the trick but what happened to me was that the MacBook required 3 firmware updates: 1 for the DVD drive, one for the SMC firmware and another for the MacBook firmware. the last 2 didn't install because of the DVD firmware issue.

What I had to do was go to <systemdisc>/Applications/Utilities and seek out the 2 firmware updaters and run them one at a time - rebooting after each one.

Sorry if you've already done this but it may be an issue for other MacBook users.

does that help to run them again. Not that i know as much as you about the mac, which by the way i don't, (thats handy to know instead of pressing delete by the way) .... just seems strange to me about running them again.....

Anyway i did not get this problem, thank god.

Just a message to the OP of this thread ( and anyone else) ... when i see an update i always wait a week to upgrade. Let the zener's the professors and the 4400's of this world upgrade straight away cause they know what they are doing and can fix it. People like me (that don't know how to fix computer problems) can upgrade a week later after all the smart guys have reported back to apple. This has worked out for me, so far, and i hope it does not blow up in my face someday. Also i could be talking 100% crap here, i don't know, but at least i feel happy upgrading later than the mac pros.

If they don't appear in the updates then they're probably installed ok. I just put this here to let others know of my experiences.

Good advice for newcomers, as well as that don't be too hasty to install betas - Safari 3 beta for example - I did, now my Internet banking won't bloody work !!! Now I have to use Firefox . . . . grumble !!!

Run the v3 beta installer again, there is an option to roll back to v2.
