I think MMA games by their very nature are all doomed to be rubbish, there's just too much variation in fights to cross over effectively into a decent game. And while grappling is great in real life, I don't relish the idea of pressing X for armbar...etc

In the gaming world at least Boxing>>>>>>mma.

Although I suppose this one could be different:)

Anybody remember the UFC game they brought out for the dreamcast? It was an absolute pile of bollocks. You were barely in the octagon 2 seconds, and before you were even able to punch, some fool had an armbar locked in and it was all over.

I think the Pride game for the PS2 by THQ is well worth a look, and while being simple enough makes for some extremely exciting fights between friends.

I think good things can be done with an MMA game given the right development time.

yeah but the problem is there are always the friends that get disheartened by it as they are knocked out in 10 seconds

This is just cgi footage, I asked about it yesterday. Still looks very promising. I've pretty much all the MMA games for PS2. Pride FC, Pride GP 2003 (japan), K-1 Dynamite 2005, UFC Sudden Impact.

so that wasnt in game footage then?

no this is not in game footage - its fmv (full mation video) which is bascially computer animation rather than the game itself - and seeing as it is THQ it will be just like the other ufc games - using the same game engine as the wwf games - so its the wwf with a new coat of paint

Nah, it won't be based on the WWE engine. The dynamics are way too different.

im not really into games anymore but think it would be like playing the wrestling games as its not real and if you knew no better you might mistake them for the same thing-but you never know.
