I can play a bit of guitar but fancy learning the keyboards and looking for a synth. Im interested in playing depeche mode / new order type music.

I'll be buying used and wondering if anyone can recommend some make/models? Something in the 500-700 euro ballpark.

the question is, do you really want hardware? or if you have a laptop/desktop pc already, you could possibly get a software synth/midi keyboard combo..

hmm, i would recommend downloading some software emulators, trying them out, if you like the sound and want the real thing, go for it.

the DX7 is a classic 80's synth, there is currently one on ebay for £155 + £25 shipping..thats last time i looked.
you should do some research on what setup DM used, and for what albums you want your music to sound like.

that page is a start anyway!

DX7 is pretty much unusable! Unless you are a big fan of horrid multi-layer menu systems. Get something with knobs and sliders which give real-time control. Korg Poly-Six is a bit of a classic
