Hi all as it said above im new to the satellite arena . and im looking for maybe a set-up so i can receive the rte DVB trails " If they can be received through a sat " i already get through my hybird tv card .but i also want to get the english FTA channels aswell , im also thinking of going down the road later on for a proper receiver which will take cams ,so im hoping to hold onto the same dish i get now for that at a later stage or can i use the same dish for 2 LNB's one for FTA DVB-S and the other for standard satellite ???
So can anyone recommend a good kit for the DVB-s and easy on the pocket but good none the less .and to keep in mind that ill be also using the dish for a mid to high end sat setup at a later stage .

    Thanks Lads

Uhm, I think you're confusing systems.

The RTÉ DVB trials are on DTT/DVB-t, and are not on satellite (DVB-s).

A satellite dish won't pick up any of the DTT trials. It will pick up BBC 1-4, ITV1-4, Sky news, Film4, etc. Dish needs to be aimed at Astra 2 constellation at 28.2degrees East.

For the DTT trials, you'll need an aerial installed. Use the Terrestrial board to discuss aerials.

Thanks for the fast reply .thats why i cam on this forum i know nothing about it so thanks for putting me straight about the RTE trails . Is there a receiver then that i can get that will do both DVB-S and the standard satellite "as in paid for channels " which uses cards and cams and so on " for this what size dish would be best and what kind of receiver would i need to get any ideas on what hardware is best I've seen some nokia boxs which i think run on a linux type disto ??
at the moment even a run of the mill dvb-s box will do .what is this deal like ? and will i get all the channels listed without sub or card here in ireland and is the price ok including postage ???

Yes, that box will pick up all the FTA channels listed (vast majority anyway, channels sometimes fold and close). As it's a Sky box, it'll also allow you the ability to upgrade to Sky if you wanted to in the future.

There are boxes that can do DVB-t and DVB-s, but these are not generally compatible with Sky. Though grand for FTA services.

Access to the DTT Pay channels cannot be accessed without the equipment/card supplied by those responsible for the trial. Discussion of otherwise will contravene this forum's rules and will result in a ban.
