Hi all. I did Kick boxing over 2 years ago in CIT Cork with Colin o Shaughnessy of Bushido Martial arts club. I got to white belt (yes I know the basic level) but due to college work I had to let it slide. I am considering getting back into it again and wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a club in Waterford area - preferably near the city. Also, any tips on how to get my fitness back up to an acceptable level for it? Cheers.

there are regular kickboxing classes and striking for mma classes in tycor gym. its in the tycor business centre, about a ten minute walk from city centre, tuesdays and thursdays are kickboxing classes and wednesday is striking for mma day.
i'll get you the number for the kickboxing instructor tomorrow, left my phone at home so don't have it on me.

if i were you i'd avoid wma at all costs, a lot of unhappy customers, you have to set up a direct debit, there's a cancellation fee if you want to stop taking classes and you are obliged to grade in japanese jiujitsu to grade in kickboxing if thats what you wanna do.

fiver for insurance per class up in tycor.

i think WMA is 8 euro. WMA seemed to be a fitness type place from what I've heard, but Tycor's place is all about functional application. Good bunch of lads up there. Bags, weights.. The works. You'll learn to kickbox there.

I had a feeling they were shady when their advertisements say they do BJJ but you inquire about it they tell you its JJJ.

Thanks everyone. Would they allow me to go in and watch a class? irishfighter - where is the waterford Vale tudo? I'm only after moving here 2 months now so not sure of the areas too well. As I said I'm basically a beginner - did my first test 2 years ago so probably would have to start over again. I want to get a fitness regime going before joining a class - otherwise I'd be afraid I wouldn't be able to keep up! lol :)

We train out of the same place as the kickboxing club so your more than welcome to call down to have a look any time. Not to many lads training kickboxing any more they all have joined us. :D

In the Tycor gym - irishfighter? Cool. Can you pm me the times and days please? Really enjoyed kickboxing while in college but I want to start getting fit before I take it up - would make people laugh how unfit I am! starting to walk a good bit and doing exercises. Still told I'm strong for a girl though lol :)
I aim to go competing - if I make the grade.
