Why are Father George Bush's eyes reptilian?

I had seen this video on YouTube and have been talking to the guy who submitted it and many other people to make sure that it's not a hoax, and I can submit to you that is NOT a hoax:

    http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=dwKcjRD1DNE

The reason it is not a hoax is because here is the original footage:

    http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/bestoftv/2005/01/03/larry.king.live.cnn

You may need to open it in Internet Explorer as I did, because Firefox is throwing a wobbly over it. As you can see, his eye are clearly vertical slits, just like the YouTube one, so at least we know it's not been tampered, unless CNN did it, but I don't think they would, for obvious reasons.

I've discussed with many other people about the possibility of it being a light trick. This is not true. If it was, why don't we see the same thing happening with Clinton's eyes, or Larry King's? Or any other show on television? Plus, even when George Bush moves his eyes are the same.

You may also notice that his eyes get more visibly thinner as he get more angry & serious.

Take what you will of it.

You know there's conspiracy theories, and then there's stuff like this. I'll go get my tinfoil hat.

I'm not pushing a theory here, I'm just saying, why are his eyes reptilian?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,683 ✭✭✭✭Owen

Because he was wearing contact lenses? Because someone edited the video? I've personally seen Senior on TV many many times, and his eyes are not reptilian. I can't believe someone would believe something so childish. Here's an obviously unflattering, unedited image :

If you watched the video, his eyes go from thin to wide, depending on what he's talking about and how vigorously. I don't know of any contact lenses that squeeze your pupil to a thin black line. And I've already said, the lighting doesn't do that.

I think the op is saying that they have vertical pupils like a reptile.

The reason for this is most likely the lighting.

There was an advertisement here in New York for an insurance company (iirc) that showed people's eyes and the shape of two towers were shining on their eyeballs. There was a bit of an uproar about it as people were condemning them for using the image of the twin towers in an advert. The company came back and stated that they didn't mean the image of the towers to be there - it was in fact the photographer's lights setup that caused this.

If you went to the photographers headshots/images pages on his website you could see that he used this setup on all of his subjects.

Here's a link to the news story.

PMSL, oh good grief. If you understood anything about science, you'd realise how preposterous this is. Are you claiming he's a reptile in human form, or a human with reptile eyes? Neither is actually possible in the real world. I'm going to trust science, and common sense, and above all normality, over some blurry youtube video that claims to be genuine, posted by an adult who believes lizard eyes are possible, and that reptilians are ruling the world.

    David Icke would be proud!

And by the way, do a search on google images for "snake contact lense", you'll be suprised at the result. Not that GB Senior would even waste his time with party gimmicks.

That's really interesting Gordon, hopefully that will be the cause, as this has a lot of people fluttering over it.

    Thanks :D

Although, that is the best reason I've heard so far, if you look up at the pictures (especially the first one) you'll see that there's no light in his eyes and therefore we should see some black? Even when he shut his eyes a little and the light goes you can see no black, just the same vertical shape.

    ?

By the way, I don't think it would be wise to really say that scientists and biologists understand and have found out every possible thing about the universe and it's life-forms. We've seen absolutely bizzare things in our own natural world. Doesn't mean that's all there is. I don't believe any real scientist would deny the existence of any form of beings, since that scientist isn't A: everywhere all at once, and B: Doesn't know everything and all there is to know.

    We're always learning.

Of course it's wise to say that Human and Reptile DNA is incompatible. It's a fact.

    Ok, show me this fact.

And please don't give me the "Oh, everyone knows that, mate!" argument. It's not a good thing.

    It's basic junior cert biology!

Again I stress that junior cert biology is not the whole, unadulterated truth throughout the whole universe, and a reference to what is and isn't. The junior cert biology, is a evaluation of what we've learned (or believe to be true) at present. So don't assume it's something you can rest on.

Science is wrong, and George Bush Senior is a Lizard eh? :)

Please point out where I said science is wrong and where I said George Bush Senior is a lizard.

    Thank you.

    No, it doesn't.

It has the small, small community of "believers" fluttering over it who flutter over whatever waas peddled to them previously and whatever will be peddled to them next.
    Ok, show me this fact.
Science doesn't necessarily work that way.

Can you show they are compatible, or are you just working off the premise that because its effectively impossible to prove either a negative or anything scientific that it just might be possible* that they're compatible.

    jc

*Intended in the same sense that it just might be possible gravity stops working tomorrow. Science can't prove for a fact that it won't.

^ what he said. OP, if you really think GB Senior has lizard eyes ... I'm not sure what to say to you.

Interesting So Glad, thanks for posting.

Certainly no-one here has managed to explain this anomoly away adequately.

    small community of "believers"?

    dont believe the hype.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nictitating_membrane
In humans, the nictitating membrane is the apparently useless pink lump in the inner corner of the eyes; it is permanently folded into that corner and no longer functions, apparently rendered redundant by evolution some time in the past. In fact, only one species of primate -- the Calabar angwantibo -- is known to have a functioning nictitating membrane.

so primates can have them, interesting ...

Just to point out...in the so-called original footage, the resolution is too low to see clear detail in Bush's eyes. You'll notice that the youtube video is a clip of this, blown up to 4x resolution.

In addition, what CNN are hosting may be the unedited material, but they're certainly not posting it in the original resolution, so you've already lost detail.

So we have a footage where detail has been lost, compressed into a lossy format, thats then been grabbed, re-processed to blow it up to 4x, then changed into a different format - again lossy.

And from this, we're supposed to accept that some strange artifacts were in all the versions back to the TV footage we can't see, and weren't a trick of the lighting on the day?

I've looked as closely as I can to the CNN footage, rather than the youtube video. I can't see any reptilian eyes there. If there was an effect like that, I'd be astounded if it wasn't a lighting effect as outlined by Gordon.

But if it really was something interesting, then the only way to answer the question would be to look at the original footage.

This current trend baffles me, where people basically argue that if we re-process an image multiple times, through lossy and low-resolution formats, and then look at the end-result blown up to more than the original size, and maybe pass it through additional filters, we can see something amazing if we look closely. Show me unedited footage, reproduced at the highest resolution available and allow me to test it myself.

Its like a bad caricature of CSI, which is itself a bad caricature of reality.

    Yes. Small. A comparative handful.
    dont believe the hype.

Thats exactly what I'm doing jessop1.

I'm not believing the hype that this has a lot of people flustered.

Such a claim is hyperbole. Hype. And I don't believe it.

The You Tube video has been altered. You can clearly see in the original film on CNN's web site (it's the second link in the first post) that not only are George Bush Senior's eyes normally shaped, they are also blue. Pause the CNN video at between 30-33 secs. (as Bush looks upwards towards the ceiling) and you can clearly see the shape and colour of his eyes. I suspect he has an infection or irritation in his left eye (right from our perspective) that would account for all the blinking, and also the self-conscious checking in the monitor.
