Did anyone get a look at this Canadian kid who played the Green Room at that knacker filled festival that was on in kildare recently? :D He was one of a few gem's i discovered there this year, I highly recommend you have a look on myspace for him.

He's a soul/folk/alternative singer and while were on the topic can anyone recommend some good soul, blues or folk singers as I've been getting into these genres recently after years of almost constant indie and alt rock.

If you like good old fashioned soul pick up pretty much any motown (the record label) record and you won't be disappointed.

I'd also recommend Beirut if you like indie/folk. Basically he's a singer/songwriter with a ten piece balkan folk-esque band. His new record out soon has a mora French folk twang I think. But def check him out.

And as for blues you can get some real nice Chess collections for cheap enough in tower etc - go for any of the classics , like Son House or John lee Hooker/ Muddy Waters.
