normally it's american piss like budweiser or irish piss like bulmers that give me the worst hangovers.

Leffe is quite strong, so if you were not drinking water to make up the difference of your normal beer you will suffer badly, i.e. if you usually drink 6 pints of 4.5% beer you should have drank 3 pints of leffe 9% and 3 pints of water in between each.
If you went and drank 6 pints of 9% and no water then your hangover should be far far worse than even 12 pints of 4.5% beer.

Hangovers are due to 2 main factors, dehydration and cogeners/bad alcohols.

Alcohol is a diuretic (make you piss), so if you do not take on water you will be severly dehydrated. Leffe is a quality beer so will have few cogeners in it. A beer like budweiser is brewed in a matter of hours, with rice & other malts. Rice (especially brewed quickly) will create a fair amount of methanol which causes a terrible hangover.

Apple juice on its own has methanol in it, but when fermented the pectin turns to methanol too, so cider is absolutely loaded with meths (realtive to say a good rum)

Anyone who horses back 9% beer like 4.3% beer is asking for trouble.

We in Ireland don't know how to drink sensibly, fcukin swill it back fast as possible be it 4/5/6/9%.. get it into ya!!

Get a bit of sense here lads.

Bavaria, while watching Liverpool win the CL couple of years ago. Never touched it again.

I was drinking Bavaria at that time for the opposite reason, to drown my sorrows.

I can't say that I get really bad hangovers though. I always devour loads of meat, chips and drink loads of milk before I go drinking. Seems to work.
