D80 v D200

I have a Nikon D80 with an 18-130mm lens at the moment, but have been offered a second hand, barely used, 6 month old D200 with an 18-70mm lens and an SD card for €1,350. The shop selling it is one I've dealt with several times, and I trust them when they tell me that they sold the camera 6 months ago, and the owner only used it for 2 weddings he was at.

My question is, is it worth upgrading?

    Thanks.

    David.

Is this the lens they're offering with it?

    18-70mm

If so, at about €450 new for the lens, and with a D200 costing about €1200 new these days, you could have a helluva bargain there. I assume this isn't a trade-in deal on the D80?

If you're into your photography in any serious way, get a D200. I got one in Jan after using film for years and I haven't looked back. You won't regret the D200 - built like a brick s*** house and rock-solid performer too. I actually found that some of my lenses weren't up to it's image-resolving power and had to buy a couple of decent ones to get the best out of it.

    Hope that helps.

    B.

[edit - just noticed they are throwing in an SD card - D200 takes CF cards, so no good to you]

    Thanks for the reply.

I meant CF card; too used to using SD now!!

Decided to pass up the offer as I couldn't justify the the expense. I also didn't need the hassle of trying to sell the D80.

One of the guys working in the shop bought the D200. I bought the 50mm Nikkor lens and the Nikon 600 flash that they had on offer instead.
