Can anybody recommend some bongos, not too crazy expensive but ones that'll do the job.
I'm really just looking for something to go along with some acoustic tracks.

Hopefully something off Thomann... I think they know the way to my house off by heart by now :P

    I don't think they'd make a great substitute for a double bass..

No, no they wouldn't ... but they would save me from trying to program a midi bongo track into acoustic recordings. :D

Use an old cardboard box! Seriously, a friend of mine used to use one for messing around while locked and could get some seriously cool sounds out of it. ;)

Sweet, and then I can build a lil fort out of it afterwards! Hurrah! :)

Or use it to great dramatic effect in a car chase á la "The Sweeney".
Boxes, is there anything they can't do! Seriously though, some cool percussive sounds can be got from a good one!
