M16 Barrel Removal...Help!!

Since I'm a hopeless tinkerer and never satisfied to leave anything "stock", I'm trying to upgrade my M16A2 with a tighbore barrel and reinforced outer barrel. I've managed to get the flash hider off ok, but the short section of barrel in front of the front sight just will not loosen. First off, does anybody know if it is normal or reverse thread, and if this is a likely spot that threadlock would have been used on?
Finally, any tips for getting this sucker off?
    Thanks in advance!
    chris

OK if this is the same as my sr16 it is very simple.

Step 1: Remove rear body pin.
2: see the upper reciver? Run your hand along the inside of that. You will find the hopup. Pull it out, the inner barrel will also come out.
3: Installing new inner barrel- There is a small plastic peice on the hopup that goes around the barrle 60%. Pull it off. You may need a screwdriver.
4: Pull the barrel out of the hopup. There will be a rubber thing called the hopup bucking on it.
    5: Remove it.
6: Place it on the new barrel making sure the line in the middle lines up with the groove on your barrel.
7: Put some silicone oil on outside of the hopup bucking.
8:There are two grooves on the outside of the inner barrel. When putting barrel back on make sure you can see BOTH of these grooves.
9:Place the plastic thing you removed back on.

Cant say how to remove you outer barrel. It should say in the manual.

If you are stuck I can post pics.

I don't suppose you could post some pics of installing the hop up bucking? I'm sticking in the metal hop up that came with my CA metal receiver - I was under the impression that it would be a simple case of "take one off and drop the new one in" but there are just enought differences between the 2 to make it confusing. I think I'm a bit out of my depth here and might wind up taking a box of parts to somebody who knows AEGs a lot better than me to re-assemble it :o

What stage have you got to?

Have you managed to take the barrel out?

After a while of bashing your head off the desk and looking intensly at the mess of aeg parts you'll see how it all goes together, just spend time on it and don't give up!

OK, have got the barrel off, removed inner barrel/hopup assembly, and took the charging handle out.
I'm having a h*ll of a time getting the ejection port cover on the new receiver - specifically getting the spring to work so it flips the cover open when it's released. This looks like it should be simple......maybe I'm the one that's simple!
I did find a good tutorial on how to install the hopup sleeve and bucking. I've also seen a few reviews that say that CA metal hopups are crap. Anybody have something to say on this before I replace my perfectly functional TM plastic one with the metal CA?
Thanks everyody for all the responses - maybe this thing will come together in the near future!!
