hi looking at getting a new dell laptop with the following spec, core duo 2.2ghz,2gb ram 667 mhz ddr2 sram, nvidia geforce 8600 256mb dgm, bluetooth, wifi
this will mostly be used for phtoshop, maybe some video editing, comes with vista home premium, might go with xp,but spec wise how do ya think this setup will work for using photoshop etc ?

Nothing really to say about it, you arent going to have compatibility issues, its a pretty decent laptop and will do grand for photoshop, although if thats its sole purpose a desktop would make more sense.

with vista, the ram is a bit low to run ps and video editing would struggle imo

have a firly good desktop, core duo 2.67ghz,2gb ram,512mb video card running on xp,the laptop is mainly for personal use,but might do the occasional bit of photoshop on it for work, thought 2 gb of ram would be sufficient,NO ? ? ?

well vista is a ram hog, really it take a gig and a half with all the bells and whistles, not leaving much for cs3 which is a right memory hog

i'm also in the market for a ps lappy, i think graphics are pretty irrelevent, minimal dedicated will cover ps. i'm leaning towards, duel core, 4 gig ram, basic dedicated gfx, fast, v fast hd, and a sexy screen, and be table to take a knock or two, as it will be used on the road.

Spec does look good. My experience is that even 2gb of ram is just about enough for Vista. I'd personally never go for a Dell but I know there are alot of pro dell users so I'll keep my mouth shut. Just hope you don't run into a problem with it.
