    Hi,
Just reading under UPC that MMDS will all become digital. Will the service be able to provide BroadBand as well.
Also what about HD channels over MMDS is this realistic also.

    1) NTL MMDS has been all digital for some while.

    2) There is little HD content, and it would need new setboxes, also existing channels would need to be MPEG4, so Everyone whould have to have new MPEG4 setbox (which work with existing signal) and then change all the non-HD channels to MPEG4. This would free space for 12 to 24 HD channels depending on quality, along with 120 approx standard Digital Channels. Even in the medium term HD is not likely. It is possible eventually.

    3) MMDS does not work the same as cable, though the signal to the box converted on the back of the dish/aerial can be like a cable TV signal. Nor is there enough channel space. Broadband in the MMDS is thus not happening. However UPC hopes to offer Wireless Broadband from a 3rd party.

I wonder if UPC will at some stage change to Satellite installations alike the packages available around europe. Also to note Chorus are also in the pipeline to release Voip shortly...I cant wait to see what a mess they will make of that lol
