Make sure that the embedded profile is sRGB and not Adobe RGB. There's a thread around on the forums here somewhere which you'll probably find if you do a search on sRGB which explains the differance.

You took the text off the tips of my fingers, Daire.
There is a thread on it and the conclusion was that you should always use sRGB.
    Give it a whirl.

Yeah I've been having the same problem with Aperture, even embedding the sRGB profile in the jpeg. I'm having less of a problem using Adobe Lightroom. There's a month's free trial available for download. Be aware that Firefox and Opera don't have the same level of sophistication as Safari when it comes to rendering colour.

Yeah, Safari (afaik) is probably the only browser that actually respects the embedded colour profile of an image, everything else, IE, Firefox and Opera included, all use sRGB to display the image. Could be wrong however.

I have seen the same issue too. In photoshop cs2 I use srgb-1998 as the colour profile, with adobe gamma software monitor calibration completed through the control applet. In photoshop the pictures look a certain way, this matches up to the way they look in the windows folder preview screens and in the windows slideshow.

However in IE or firefox they often get a 5 or 10% de-saturation and I think a slight colour shift too. CS2 is set to embed colour space in the image so I am not sure how to get them to be a perfect match.

srgb-1998 is the Adobe srgb profile. You just want to use plain old vanilla sRGB as an embedded profile (convert to it in PS) and bobs your uncle.

That could explain it and save a lot of grief. On my machine there is an 'Adobe' one and then a 'srgb-1998. . . . ' one - I cant remember seeing a 2nd 'SRGB' one but I will check on that machine later. Cheers for that.
