Help with aussie / NZ 80's childrens programme

    me again...
    anyone remember a childrens programme from the early 80's that featured a group of australian or nz kids who solved mysteries.. they used to be friends with a man called Vim, and for some reason there were always opals (the stone) in it.. i remember they had those bikes with the banana seat and pedal brake (like the mini-eska)...
    any ideas please post... thats all i have...

    The bit about the stones sounds a little like the New Zealand show "Under the Mountain"

    But the other stuff doesn't really ring any bells with me.

    one of the main adult charaters in it was called "vim"..

    It could have been The Secret Valley. Was there a gang in it called The Spider Gang?

    There was also a show from Oz about that time in which the bad guy ate apples and work a while hat and suit. Don't know if that was The Secret Valley though.
