Mario Kart for Wii released this year..!

    Read here!
Sources say that the Wii version of Mario Kart - which is said to be revealed at E3 - will be out this year in Europe...

One of our trusted sources has given us some news about the Wii version of Mario Kart.

The game will be shown at this year's E3, which is something that everything expects anyway. What's more is that it will be release this year in Europe. Specific details on the game are still unknown - just the planned release date and the fact that it exists is known - but we will find all that out next week anyway.

Mario Kart for the Wii will be a "replacement" for Super Smash Bros. Brawl in Europe, which will sadly miss Europe this year, and it will be out early 2008 instead. However, this also means that the US will not see Mario Kart until early 2008, and they will be getting Smash Bros. Brawl in 2007. This means that Nintendo fans in both Europe and the US will have something to moan about (they'll have something to be glad about, too....but there will probably be more moaning).

Also note that at the beginning of June Patrick Nagel, Deputy Marketing Manager for Nintendo Germany, stated that Europe will see Metroid Prime 3 and Mario Kart in 2007. We have reason to believe that he really was speaking the truth then.

As we have already said, we trust this source, but have put this up as rumour rather than news because we have no official way to back it up. You'll just have to wait and see.
Just a rumour but exciting nonetheless!

I hope it has online play

I wonder how the controls will work. If anyone can et them right though, it'll be Nintendo I guess.

If there's online play this has the potential to be utterly amazing.

Heretic! Double Dash is second only to Super Circuit. No, really.

I woulda preferred Super Smash Bros Brawl but i'll make due Mario Kart with Mario kart til then. I'd say it will play much like any other driving game on the wii where you hold the remote sideways. Sound be fun

the only mario kart that was poor was the n64 one. double dash was good but wasnt great.

If this has 8 player online and none of the friend code crap then it would be great

    I'd prefer Smash Bros.

If that gets a 2008 release in europe I'll explode in sheer fury outside the NOE offices.

Having played every incarnation of mario kart I can safely say I've had my fill.

Oh, and if there is online play, its definitely going to have friend codes :(

I got years of fun outta Mario Kart 64, the multiplayer was amazingly good.

If this game had a kind of story mode and online play it'd be the best game ever!

Looking forward to this one. Fingers crossed it has online multiplayer.

I'm unsure about what's more exciting:

    1) A new Mario Kart

    or

    2) We are getting something before the Americans!

I'm thinking that that is agiven due to the huge popularity of the DS versions online play.

You mean you're going to bore him to death? That track is loooong and bland, man. :p

It'd be cool if they gave Mario Kart Wii an Exite-Bike-to-Excite-Truck style overhaul to make good use of the remote and get rid of the broken slide boosting. But they won't.

Seems like an odd move to "swap" two games like that for no real reason

What about the jump at the end?! The ultimate "Tea Challenge" track due to a sneaky lightning strike trick to send the leader right back behind everyone if timed right. :)

Ahh god the memories....first there were tea challenges, then "bring out the bins" ones, then cycle 5 miles at 4 in the morning cause the flat is outta skins" ones. ahhh the good ole days...:D

Yeah, Mazza Kart 64 rocked! And I found the battle mode was more enjoyable on that than Double Dash... Wario Stadium is a boring track on single player, was great in 4 player cos you were spending so much time paying attention to what the others were up to and timing the shells and lightning for the big jump you didn't really notice the track...

Got it on the VC, tis cool! :)

    I'd much rather Smash Bros.

    Smash Bros > Mario Kart
