• For video format what is SMV? Will it play DivX and XViD?

Yes but you need to convert them to SMV first.

According to the specs, USB Full Speed, not HI-Speed.
Full Speed is 12 Mbit/s (1.5 MB/s), Hi-Speed is 480 Mbit/s (60 MB/s).

Edit: and the manual says Hi-Speed.

Aldi site/brochure doesnt say anything about mp3 compatibility. Hopefully its just an oversight, and this is the correct manual.

Dont think i'd enjoy converting 2gigs of music to a compatible format.

Gotta love some of those safety instructions.... :D
Do not throw the product into fire to avoid danger of explosion.

Do not immerse into water or get soaked since the battery charging function will be lost.

When charging the battery the Power Switch should be in the ON position.

Amazing price, though. A pair of Sennheiser earbuds alone is usually about €20.

I had 2 of these before, it wasn't Tevion, but its definitely the same player so I'm guessing its just a rebadge, can't remember the name of the one I had though, some weird name anyway. It was quite good, nice menus, video quality was decent and converted/played anything I put on it, but both of mine had problems with recharging after only a few days use - sometimes would, sometimes wouldn't....etc....

So did anyone pick one up + if so, are they any good?

I got one - seems decent. Summary:
Hardware is a z80 and some hardware decompression chip.
Plays a proprietary video format called AMV. From googling, it appears to be some form of munged AVI.
Converter seems to work OK, no Linux solution as yet.
Plays mp3s.
Charges over USB. Appears as a USB mass storage device.
Can read .txts for use as ebook - not tried this yet.
Records voice. Quality usable.
Built in tetris game is not bad.
Mine came with the Axel Foley / Crazy Frog music video pre-installed.
Comes with a silicon sleeve, which fits it nicely and protects it somewhat.
It's small.
Built in FM Radio works OK. Picked up today fm on the bus. Can record radio.

I haven't tried wma music, as I don't have any - all my music is in .mp3.

The only video format it plays is AMV, it seems.

slightly off-topic but dont think it's worth starting a new thread for this:
