The Diary format?

Have for a long time being considering ...trying to compile a book from my diaries..both on-line and in my own hard-back!...it's focus would be very much towards a specific topic..for example depression..sexuality...marital breakdown..I feel they don't lack depth...but I've no real idea how to write a narrative....most of my favourite books have been in the diary format. Is it a good medium or is it overused?
    Thanks
    Alan

I think its a very readable format...... as for being over used i dont think it is... as I think its easy to read and readers can easily identify with the style....no matter what style its in, its about the content... if the book has good content and is well written it will be read in my opinion....... I know Im a fan of diary like books because I really feel a sense of the reader letting me in... a kind of personal connection with the author. its hard to explain, Im not really doing a very good job...
