I'm going to buy a new iPod 80gb.
They're about €370 in Ireland (pixmania) but about €250 in the USA.

    1. Anyone know where is the cheapest I can get one from in a.Ireland b. online

    2. If I order one from the USA are there any technical problems?
    3. Will I get caught for customs? (If so I'll wait until someone is going there on holidays/work)

    thanks,
    Patrick.

there's no technicial problems in getting an US ipod and using it here it works great.

ordering online it's hard to say whether you'll get caught for customs, it depends solely on the mailing system they use.

if they use a courier like UPS/DHL then you will be caught, on the other hand if they use the USPS there's a chance it might get through customs because of the size of the package. it's a coin toss really.

Yeah, just used DHL there, and bam, there goes the good deal I got from America on Thinkgeek. Damn customs.

If I get someone to buy me one in the states they can bring it back to Ireland with them without hassle from customs?

don't think we can answer that here, as it's tax evasion/avoidsion.

    Oh good. Case closed.

And yes, don't go discussing ways of avoiding paying tax here. I'd add that to the charter but it just seems like common sense in fairness.
