Where to Look for Weekend Work?

    Hi,

I am saving for a mortgage and hoping to get a weekend job, to earn a bit of extra cash.

However, I'm having trouble finding a job search site which specifically caters for late night, or weekend work.

Although jobs.ie (etc) do provide a 'part time' search option, most jobs listed there are of the '20 hour week' variety.

Is there a site that caters specifically for 'studenty' part time work?

    Thanks a million,

    Audrey

Serious question: do you know much about computers? And would you work in IT? I ask as a few companies take on people for the weekend, as the weekday satff can't man the phones at the weekend all the time.

I am fairly competent and literate when it comes to computers, but I have no specific IT qualifications.

I would be happy to take on an IT position if you thought I could handle it, but aside from that I would be happy to take on an admin/ reception role, or even a customer service or retail role.

I have a fair bit of experience in retail, as I worked part time in retail from 15 - 23 (Clothing stores, Cinema, Music Stores etc) and since then I have gained a lot of experience in office type (marketing and financial) industries.

An extra €100-150 a week is what I need, and I'm willing to work where ever needs be (within reason ;):) ) to get it.

Shouldn't be too hard to find weekend work, employers are always looking for staff to fill Saturday morning jobs ;)

i was thinking of doing the same thing, but i heard it really messes with your tax, is this true? nixers.ie is a good site for part time jobs, or have you tried your local paper?

I found my part time job on Irishjobs, but I'm sure you've looked there already. ;)
    Try nixers.com too.
If not there, if you don't mind working in shops, a lot of them just have notices on the window. Just go into a shopping centre and look around.

when I wanted my mortgage I worked in a nightclub and then also doing event security.

If it is flexibility you want security is great, but the pay is crap.
Bar work paid better as i had years of experience but again are the late nights and job worth the money you get?

If you are building your earning up to qualify for a slightly better mortgage then the security thing isn't the worst but you won't gain much financially out of it as it is around 9euro an hour then less your 41% tax.It wins out on flexibility.

If you want the 2nd job to earn extra money and you have bar expeirence nightclubs can be a great place to do it.Flexibility isn't great but money is a bit better.

    Found them both on nixers.com

It can unless you're proactive about it. Once you start the pt job inform the revenue you want your credits split across the two jobs (in whatever proportion you see fit, just let them know) and you won't end up being overtaxed.

I could be chancing my arm here, but is there any such thing as a cash in hand job anymore?

It works out grand I've been doing it years you just call them tell them what your earning in each place and they work it out for you
I pay approx 20% on what I earn in the 2nd job
