I bought 2 of these last month from Komplett - they were a fiver cheaper then. Great little drives, good value, very quiet. Only a tenner dearer than buying a bare 500gb SATA drive.

The only issue I have with them is that the plug is integrated into the transformer and it's a european 2-pin. They throw you in a convertor plug but it makes it awkwardly shaped and takes up a lot of space.

I got one of them myself, it was installed & running in just a couple of minutes on XP...

Yeah that'd be the only negative thing I'd say about it too. The drive itself is small & takes up hardly any space.

From Jaguar's sign-up "You MUST provide your company name to register an account. Accounts without a valid company/trade name will not be activated"...

Can you get a "civilian" account? :)

What are their postage rates like (can't seem to find them without having an account?).

It is possible to buy direct from Jaguar at their premises in Blanchardstown without a company name or other such bureaucracy, and also no postage. Prices on their site may be ex-VAT, make sure to double check.

i could be wrong here but wer'nt jaguar computers based on the long mile/walkinstown road at one stage? im sure my father used to work directly across from them about 2years ago, directly across from the newly opened Aldi/lidl one of the other... back then you could just walk in and buy over the counter

This looks like a good deal. Any any experiences of the hard drive or recommend better deal please?

I got one a few weeks ago. Nice little drive. Very quiet. Seems to power down if it's not being used for a while which is good. The plug doesn't bother me. The only negative for me is the shape of it. The inverted T is a bit weird. Makes it a bit fiddly when throwing it in your bag to take somewhere. But on the flip side the shape of it makes it look pretty cool sitting on your desk so if you're just looking for extra space for the home PC I'd recommend it. Also the Seagate blurb that came with it said it had a five year warranty.

Thanks so much for all the replies guys and gals.

    Really appreciate the help.

    Cheers

P.S. Does anyone think it might be a good idea to have one thread for stuff like Hard Drives etc instead of loads of different threads without making loads of stickies? Maybe have one sticky with a list of threads for each item.

I don't think that would work. Offers and promotions change from day to day and a single thread would require lots of maintanance as these offers expire/become obselete.

Regarding this drive, looks like a very nice deal and I might help myself to one this week... running out of space on my PC rapidly.
