It usually takes between 3 to 15 working days to be hooked up to Chorus, however I wouldn't recommend it when compared to sky, as you get an inferior product and the service isn't any better.

The only advantage Chorus have over Sky is Multiroom is cheaper, extra rooms cost €7.50 per room compared to Sky's €15 extra per room and doesn't require phone lines.

Also if you cancel your sky subscription you get to keep the equipment and can receive the FTA channels, if you cancel Chorus they collect the equipment.

If you want their number it 1890417888

    Best of luck with it

thanks steveon, basically sky works intermittentky for me the last month, sky want to send an engineer and say they'll give it to me half price for 50, but the chorus package doesnt seem to bad, plus setanta is included

You only get Setanta Ireland included on the Chorus Package on the basic package, this is not the same as Setanta 1 and Setanta 2 which is where all the premiership matches will be shown as far as I'm aware.

Your problem with your satellite is your dish has probably moved in the wind..

IMHO, I think you should pay to have the dish re-alligned. Chorus do indeed offer an inferior service.

Also, Sky offer Sky+, which for me is a huge advantage over any other provider. You can watch one channel while recording another or even record two channels while watching something you have previously recorded. This idea of being restricted to only one channel is, for me anyway, like a triop back to the '70's before VCR!!!

Patrick i will give you my opinion for what it's worth, i had Chorus for about 9 years(digital about 4 years), i then switched to Sky about 2 years ago and i can honestly say, hand on heart, that i never once not even for a second regretted the decision. If it's a simple thing like realigning your dish it's not worth switching to Chorus over it I.M.H.O. if you could get someone local(a friend) to come and look at it they might be able fix it for you.

I have yet to meet someone who honestly believes Chorus offer a better service than Sky.

I'm sticking with sky, they'll bend over backwards to keep customers and are sending an engineer out for free..

Haven't any experience of Sky(but next door neighbour has and they recently moved from Chorus to Sky and are very happy), but the Chorus service is lousy. I am planning to let my current Chorus subscription expire and then switch either to Sky or more likely to FTA.

The Chorus service has broken down so many times in the past two months, I've taken to marking it on the calendar.

Anybody I know who has NTL in Dublin, say its a joke but cant do anything about it as they are not allowed to have sky dishes,so I would say to people -dont rush to change befrore speaking to NTL/Chorus subscribers

Just to add my 2cent. I got fed up with Chorus (dodgy intermittent picture quality/poor channel choice) and decided to move to Sky.

It took about 4 months for Sky to get it right (engineers not showing/sky cards sent to wrong address/dishes/phone lines/cancelled cards/double charging) etc..

When you have Sky setup and no further human intervention is required, Sky offer much much better service than Chorus.

Good choice in sticking with Sky but the very best of luck with your engineer coming out on the agreed date. (hope you have plenty of annual leave spare)

Maybe it depends on the luck of the draw but both times I've had engineers due to come out they came when they said they would when they rang that morning, both were from Sierra.
