I am at the table only 3 rounds and havn't been involved yet apart from laying down AK when I got C-raised on a 10 high flop... I notice that the villan has played ever hand since I sat down. He has limped in and called raises. I havn't seen him show down a hand although he did open push all in on a 3 heart flop. my stats say he is 71/0/3.6/29. only over a small sample..

Green Joke Poker Carballo 1/2, hand converted by the iPoker Converter at Talking-Poker

    saw flop | saw showdown

    Button akiles1 ($196)
    SB Conducius ($414.30)
    BB kidkutz ($185.90)
    UTG Hero ($187)
    UTG+1 Higgy1979 ($136.28)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with Kheart.gif Kdiamond.gif
Hero raises to 7, 3 folds, kidkutz calls 5.

    Flop (15) 6club.gif Jheart.gif Qdiamond.gif
kidkutz checks, Hero bets 12, kidkutz calls 12.

    Turn (39) 2spade.gif
kidkutz checks, Hero bets 25, kidkutz calls 25.

    River (89) 8diamond.gif
    kidkutz checks,

Now whats my move? check behind or value bet?? if bet how much?

the reason I ask is because I used to do a lot of checking behind for a long time and realised I was loosing out on a lot of value when my hand is shown down as the best hand and he would have called another bet.. for the last while I've been value betting a lot more with goodish results
There is a part 2 in a little while....

I think a bet of around 2/3s the pot is about right, though it's difficult to say what his calling range on the river is, I wouldn't be surprised to get a call out of KQ or AQ or something like that, maybe even a worse queen. If he has QJ or 910, so be it, he'll probably come over the top and I'd lay the hand down unless I'd seen him do this before on a bluff which we haven't in this case. I think whatever the result here is checking behind here against a villan like this is loseing value, it's been a big mistake of mine alot too which I've been trying to iron out of my game.

In my opinion, you can never make a value bet on the end unless you know whether you are calling or folding if check - raised.

That said, in this case he probably has luckboxed some odd two pair.

But given that I don't fold to check min - raises on the river as a general rule; and given this guy's wonderful stats - I call and hope to see a horrendous one pair hand like Q10 / J10 / 56 / A8 etc. Bet folding to a minraise would just be awful.

I like your thinking lloyd..... I also always have a plan on what happens next.... Here my plan is value bet and fold to a push..... I didn't really consider the minraise...

As stated I couldn't fold so I close my eyes and press call!

And of course I get to see his Q8

was just wondering if I should have V/b in the end as I could have saved myslef 80 squid... but I suppose it's the right thing to do?

    Thanks again guys

I would bet 60, call a minraise purely because of the price I was getting. I would prolly fold to a big cr though

I don't understand, surely this is the easiest value bet ever?
