another fx loop query

    aarrgh, stumped again,

    heres my situation...

    i have an amp, boss me6, zoom 1201 rack and stomps,

    so i can get the boss me6 in the fx loop fine,
    but i want the zoom job to go through as well,

    the zoom is not a dedicated guitar unit and the manual says that a guitar can be used but is too weak to run it and will need a preamp or a stomp in front to power it, this has proved to to be untrue, i can plug my guitar into it then straight to the amp and it works,
    bizzare, ive no active pups or anything,

    also this arrangement works: guitar - me6 - zoom - front of amp,
    but i want it in the loop, my amp has nice tones and I want
    to go from guitar to distortions to front of amp,

    the loop that works is , me6 in - send on amp and me6 out to return on amp

    so, I've tried the cables all sorts of ways, but the amp is not picking it up
    just leaving the loop and its level knob inactive

    if anyone would spell out the string to me it would be appreiciated
    so i can eliminate the (high) possibility that i have just done it wrong

    or would the zoom be messing things up because of its alleged
    need for power?

    any thoughts appreciated,
