Playing music on mobile phones without earphones

This is driving me insane. I swear to god I am going to go postal on somebodys ass on the 39 bus if people dont stop playing their music on their mobile phones without having earphones in.

I am sick of hearing Umbrella, P. Diddy, bastardised dance versions of 80's classics and Romania folk music every time I am heading into and out of work on the bus.. What sort of ignorant moron thinks it is ok to subject other passengers to their musical 'taste'?

    Two incidents this week alone.

    1. I asked a scangerette the other day if she wouldnt mind plugging her earphones in only to be told

"Fcuk off you im bleedin listening to Rhiannaaaaaaaaaaa so mind your own bleedin business"

    2. I asked a foreign guy (well I presume he was foreign judging from the music) guy the same thing but he couldnt understand me so I motioned for him to put earphones in his ear.. He just shrugged and turned away.

It is starting to really stress me out.. Every day you get some moronic gob****e blaring their music.

I know there are far more important things happening in the world and I know I am probably sounding like Victor Meldrew but its just soo annoying

If they are going to play it, at least play it from something decent, not some ****ty phone speaker. It sounds like sheeeite! I don't beeeelive it!
That said people should be authorised to make bits of anyone playing music from a loudspeaker, imagine the looks when you stamp Miss Hoopy Earings iPod into the ground. :)

I don't use public transport but can see how this new trend can be annoying. Until they bring in a law stopping it I think you'll have to resort to getting a bike.

All the Spanish kids have arrived, so for the first time yesterday, I got to listen to Spanish music. Just as terrible as the usual.

Didn't we have a huge moaning thread about this just last w/e? Put on your own earphones if it's bothering you that much.

Nothing pissed me off more than listening to tinny dance music blasting out of mobiles on the bus every morning.

Step 1: Buy some headphones that block out external noise. Result!

Step 2: Buy a car! Even better!

    Step 3: ???

    Step 4: Profit!

    I'm only up to Step 2 :(

Very annoying indeed. Tell the bus driver, see if he can do something about it

Laugh at you? I'm sure the driver has better things to worry about than whether or not you approve of someone elses taste in music.

It may not be too long before they bring in a law banning it. Subjecting people to second hand music is bad for peoples health and should be stopped immediately.

The health service has enough to do looking after people suffering from smoke related problems without this new health risk. Plus, when I get home after a night out, I don't want my clothes stinking of country music or jazz etc.

    Ban it now.

start singing along to the music really badly and loudly, the people responsible might shut the fcuk up if they are smart enough to cop your making a point

What if you don't have your own earphones?

It's not just on public transport you know. I was in the Centra on North King Street the other day and there were two scummer's standing in the queue. One of hem looked like he was trying out for an extra's part in a hip hop video and he had some sort of crap hip hop/rap etc type of music blaring out of his phone VERY LOUDLY while he was standing in the queue with his mate. How much ignorance do you have to have to do that.

Step 1: Sit behind one the twats.
Step 2: Take out a knife and hold it to their throat.
Step 3: Motion for them to give you the mobile.
Step 4: Throw it out the window!

You should wear a tanktop, shorts, boots and a fisherman hat when ya do this, Crocodile Dundee style!

Get a set of speakers for your phone and get some death metal.

"ill turn mine off when you turn yours off "

Move out of whatever lower-class area you're in that has knackers on the bus.

I've never had people playing **** music on my bus route.

    I can recommend the shure e2cs ;)
You'd need your head examined getting on dublin public transport without some variety of portable entertainment.

Seriously though what's different than this and some pack of scumbags roaring and shouting down the back of the bus/dart/whatever?
How do you legislate against this? Is public transport to be fitted with decibel meters? Are you and your ilk ejected after the phone music passes a certain point? Who enforces this? What one amongst the usual type who do this are going to pay a blind bit of attention to anyone or any rule/law telling them they can't do this; if anything it will encourage them.
People are going to have to just grin and bare it until the next way of niggling the general public is invented by the japanese...

Posting before some tosser starts whinging and providing links to previous threads dealing with this issue. (Not you Wertz)

I said it there and I'll say it here too, you don't get any of this on the auld 46A. I'll take an army of spanish students with matching orange backpacks and guinness hats before the skangers.

I second the move to an area without the knackers suggestion

Wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy a car? Assuming of course you're old enough to drive....which you probably are if you're old enough to move house...

There already is a law from 1950 that bans it.

There is also a law that bans smoking but that doesn't stop the scangers either.

No person while on the vehicle shall sing, perform on any musical or other instruments or use any audible radio, television, record player, tape recorder or portable apparatus.

Well, if the law is on your side then it's up to the individual to either complain to the driver or take it further, if possible.

Depend on how much it annoys you and how far your prepared to go to get them to shut off the music.

Remove said musical apparatus from their possession, and insert firmly into rectum.
    Repeat as needed.

    1. Lift weights and get bigger
    2. Tell them to switch the crap off in an aggressive manner.
