    Hi,
Just booked two return tickets to NY from Dublin on edreams.com.
Price was 366 each including tax. Entered passport numbers and my credit card number.

But now I've gotten this email:
    RESERVATION CONFIRMATION
    YOUR RESERVATION NUMBER IS: ******

Thank you for having reserved your ticket with eDreams.

    Important !
We apologise for the inconvenience, but in order to issue tickets booking conditions require that payment must be completed by Bank Transfer.

Please make a bank transfer in the sum of 732.36 € to the following account:
    IBAN : ES06-2100-3006-93-2200779686
    SWIFT : CAIXESBB
    Account's holder : Vacaciones eDreams S.L
    Bank data : La Caixa - oficina 3006, c/Pelai 11, 08001 Barcelona, Spain
    Reason: ******

    Fax proof of transfer to 0034 93 508 85 82
For the attention of: Flight Reservations.
    Reason: *******(Your reservation number)
    Send us your comments.
If you pay by bank transfer, you must allow three (3) working days from receipt of faxed proof of transfer for the payment to reach our account. We therefore cannot accept payment by bank transfer unless there is a period of at least six (6) working days between the date of reservation and the date of your departure.
The ticket for this reservation shall be issued in electronic format (e-ticket). The e-ticket confirmation shall be sent in a second email to the address indicated below. You will not receive any paper ticket.

    Following steps:
In order to continue the reservation procedure, please make sure you have sufficient funds in your bank account for the next 24 hours (see the details below).
We would like to remind you that airplane prices have a very short period of validity and wire transfers may take as long as 3 days (due to bank procedures). Thus we request that you make the transfer as quickly as possible.
Since the validity of airplane prices are regulated by the Airlines, eDreams shall not be held liable for availability at the time of your wire transfer.
Once the payment has been made, send us proof of payment by fax to the following number 0034 93 508 85 82 clearly indicating the number of your reservation. We would like to inform you that we cannot guarantee the price before issuing the ticket.
When we receive your payment we will make sure the airline has maintained its price and will then issue the tickets. If the supplied data is exact, you will receive an e-mail confirming your purchase.
Passengers must have a national identification card or passport for domestic flights and a passport for international flights. Some airlines reserve the right to request the bank card used to pay for the ticket. We recommend arriving at the airport check-in desk at least two hours before your flight departs.

I can't understand why I need to wire money after they took my credit card details. I'm a bit worried I must say!
Anyone able to verify this company's authenticity?

Looks very fishy to me especially at that price, usually it's a lot dearer, i would get your credit card company to cancel this immediately.

Dont what ever you do go with this agency. Its looks very suspect. No proper IATA travel agency would get you to book a flight in this manner. They claim to be an IATA agency but would not think they are by the looks of that email you got.

Ring your bank cancel your credit card etc... No online company wud ever ask for a wire transfer its not da done thing. Also since you now hav there bank details report it to the bank as suspected fraud

Search tripadvisor for edreams.com and read this. Also have a look at Ciao. If it were me, I would take corrective action asap

My girlfriend just went to pay for an airline ticket with her
creditcard on eDreams.com and this is what just happened:

First of all she received an email after completing the payment process
with the flight information but it also had this warning added to it:
    RESERVATION CONFIRMATION
    YOUR RESERVATION NUMBER IS: ******
    Important !

We are currently checking a problem we have detected with your bank card during the payment process. As soon as we have verified that everything is correct we will send you a ticket as indicated in the section "Following steps." If it is not possible to complete the payment with the credit card provided we will contact you by email to inform you of how your ticket can be issued.

If we do not encounter any problems during the payment process, the ticket for this reservation will be issued in the form of an electronic ticket (e-ticket). The confirmation of the e-ticket will be sent as a second email to the email address specified below. You will not be sent any paper documentation.

    Following steps:
    1. Your reservation is confirmed but has not been paid. Please wait until we contact you again before making a new reservation. Your reservation is confirmed. You will see the details and flight itinerary below.
    2. If we are unable to complete the payment with your card, we will send you a second email informing you of how to pay for your reservation.
    3. If the data is exact, we will charge the ticket to your bank card and send you an e-mail confirming the purchase. Do not go to the airport before receiving the second confirmation e-mail from eDreams. This second e-mail will be sent to you once we have verified the exactness of the reservation and that your card has been charged for the corresponding amount.
    4. Passengers must have a national identification card or passport for domestic flights and a passport for international flights. Some airlines reserve the right to request the bank card used to pay for the ticket. We recommend arriving at the airport check-in desk at least two hours before your flight departs.
    Notes and Advice:
    • Carefully read the details of your reservation and if you see any incorrect information, send us an e-mail immediately to modification.cancellatio n@edreams.com or contact us by phone at 00800 55 88 55 00 (International Freecall: Lines are open Monday - Friday 9:00 - 20:00 Continental European Time) clearly stating that you made an incorrect reservation on the Internet and indicating your reservation number. We will look into the change or cancellation conditions of your reservation and if they permit it, we will look for the best solution to your problem. Remember that many prices have restrictions that do not allow any changes or cancellations and in many cases nothing can be done. Service fees will not be reimbursed.
    • If all the information is correct, it is not necessary for you to contact us.
    • Note: The specific administrative authorities will notify you of the formalities for your trip (passport, visa, vaccines, etc.). It is your responsibility to take care of these formalities. You cannot request a reimbursement if you are denied boarding because you have not presented the required documents (passport, visa, vaccination certificate, etc.).
    • Note: eDreams reserves the right not to issue a ticket or to ask for additional documents in accordance with its internal risk policy.

Following this email my girlfriend got this next email requesting sensitive credit
card & passport information to be send via a very insecure method... WTF???
    From: ******* ******@edreams.com
    Date: Tue, 29 Jul 2008 17:25:59 +0200
    To: Email Address Removed
    Subject: ****** (Booking Number Removed)

    Dear Customer,

Following your reservatin we're asking you to send us a fax of your passport
as well as both sides of your credit card. If you do not have access to a
fax you can scan the documents and send it to me via e-mail.

I would like to inform you that this is just a security measure used by
edreams so we can cross check the information entered in the reservation.

    Kind regards,

    Tel: 902 887 107
    Fax: 902 505 506

I called their office and asked them if this was genuine request and a guy
told me their security department does this to verify the transaction & for
the customer's peace of mind, but how is risking a customers personal data
over an unsecured network good for 'peace of mind' for the customer?

Personally I am horrified!

I would really appreciate some feedback regarding
this stupid request... Sheeeeesh.... Im so confused !

Never ever send a copy of your credit card (especially both sides) especially in combination with your passport! Dont be confused, just be extra careful.

I know, I wouldnt and neither would my girlfriend, but I am so confused about how could a 'reputable company' do such a stupid thing?

Not very reputable now are they and we are going to make these bastards pay! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,954 ✭✭✭✭Larianne

I used them to fly home from The Philippines about 2 months ago and had no hassle. I just had to wait for confirmation of payment going through (the first email your girlfriend got).

All this copies of passports and credit cards is very dodgy though! Maybe it depends on the card you are using?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3 Marcus_FNQ

Verification for this transaction SHOULD have been done through the bank,
requesting this type of information over an unsecured network is EXTREMELY
risky and is NOT something any reputable bank, financial institution
or network security administrator or consultant would ever endorse.

Is this staff member philshing this information to commit
fraud themselves using the information theyve solicited here ?

Where is the 'peace of mind' for eDream.com's
customers by doing business this way?

Thanks a lot to this forum. Unfortunately I found it after I wasted a lot of time with e-dreams.

Never again I will try to use e-dreams! I found allegedly the cheapest tickets, gave my bank details, they charged almost £15 for their services + usage of my debit card, then they booked the flights and informed me that there was a problem with payment from my bank account. Actually I got the same message as Marcus_FNQ posted above.

I had to call my bank several times and they assured me that there were no problems with my account or my bank card.
Fortunately I broused the internet and found this forum with your postings about e-dreams, which alerted me.
I started reading carefully their message about my booking. The following really shocked me: Important for payments with a debit card: If you paid your booking with a debit card, you may receive a temporary extra charge in your card. The first one is the effective charge of your ticket total amount and the second one is a temporary charge of the same amount. This second charge will automatically disappear from your account between one week and a month. This often occurs for transactions with travel agencies Spanish banks, card suppliers and IATA.

Their free phone no. they give you for customer support desk at 00800 55 88 55 00
does not exist. Another tel.no. is £1.53/min. Only by chance I managed to find their Spanish tel.no. and call them to find out what was happening with my booking. They started telling me that they needed some additional information from me to send them by fax. I immediately cancelled the booking, called my bank and asked to block the transaction if requested.
