As of today I can't send any emails thru outlook with my gmail account. If I specify sending via eircom, it sends...

When I go to accounts and test the settings it works... for both the gmail one and the eircom one.

"sending and recieving" button works fine, its only when I send an actual mail... it won't budge from the outbox.

    incoming: pop.googlemail.com
    outgoing: smtp.googlemail.com
my outgoing server (smtp) requires authentication: set to use the same as my incoming mail server
incoming pop port: 995 and requires encrypted connection
outgoing smtp port: 465 and requires encrypted connection

The account is set up to enable pop and forwarding in gmail's settings...

I've no idea what to look at or change

btw we are on NTL... was thinking I could set the outgoing mail server smtp to whatever NTL one there is.

    Any ideas folks?

Yep, your outgoing server needs to be that of your service provider (in this case NTL), don't know what it is for them however.

Outgoing SMTP Server for NTL used to be smtp.ntlworld.ie but now its smtp.upcmail.ie. So you'll need to use that as your outgoing server.

    bit of a hijack here...

if you setup outlook for GMAIL...will both outlook and webmail sync with each other?

ie., if you log into webmail and open new mail, will outlook still receive that new mail?

    no worries humaxf1.
I couldn't fix my problem, I created a new account for it.perhaps it didn't like being used in 2 seperate outlooks... I dunno.

you can set up gmail so that when u read an email on outlook it becomes archived in gmail. I dunno what happens if u read from Gmail... I think u still get the mail in outlook...
