Ordering Sky Online - should I expect confirmation?

    Hi,

I ordered Sky online on Monday, but haven't heard anything back.

No money taken from account, no email or phone call to confirm order - and no viewing card in the post.

Is this normal enough, or should I chase it up?

    Cheers.

When I ordered online it was about a week or so later when I received a letter in the post confirming my order and informing me I had nothing to do. A week later, or maybe a little less I received my viewing card in the post and contract.

One the morning of the install I got a call from the engineer to tell me the time scheduled for the install that day.

It is generally just a case of sitting back and waiting. You have nothing to do until the engineer arrived on the given day.

Just to worry you a bit, I ordered sky+ online about 3 months ago, I waited a week and when I phoned they hadn't got the order and said they were having regular problems with their online ordering recently.
Worked out fine though as the guy on the phone was able to offer me a much nearer install date than did the website originally.
Think you're right JD moving from ntl/upc though, I haven't looked back since.

I Heard about this delay, and I just rang and Ordered it tonight, Guy on the Line (Cillian, really helpfull) Said That phoneing is the best thing to do, as they can Confirm Everything straight away, and my instalation is next Satarday!

Had a look yesterday out of curiosity, and it seems you can't upgrade online without taking all on the full basic package (6 mixes).

Seems a bit poor to me. Surely you should be able to pick whatever combination you like within the available packages they offer?

They lost my online order too. Dont forget there is a €15 discount for ordering online.

I ordered online a few months ago and got no repsonse so I rang sky to explain the situation and they did the order over the phone.

Interestingly I then received two viewing cards so rang them back and they sorted the issue on the system and told me to bin the second card. 2 weeks later I get a call from an engineer to set up the system, I had the joy of explaining to him that another engineer from a different company had already set it up.

It seems that sky's online system isn't what it should be.

Keep an eye on your credit card bill, they could charge you twice.

Just as an update to this... they "lost" my internet order. I phoned them up when nothing happend, and the Sky rep in Cork (plus his supervisor) hadn't a clue what I was talking about and the internet reference number meant nothing to them.

I had to order again over the phone - which took the guy 45 mins. Grrr!!

Another feature of online ordering to watch out for...I ordered sky+ online in mid-June, got the letters which Winters mentions above, but my first bill did not include the half-price subscription which was their special offer at the time (half-price for first 2 months).

Queried with Sky who have told me that they have no record of any offer being made or accepted....I got the €15 discount for ordering online, but not the half-price offer?!
