Will Dell repair this? My 6400

Hi, I've got an Inspiron 6400 or E1505 which I bought last November/December. I specced it out with a two year warranty, I'm not sure what kind of warranty it was but it definitely wasn't the base one anyway.

So recently have seen on my screen with black backgrounds a load of tiny white dots in the middle of the screen and on the bottom left corner as well, these I believe are stuck pixels vs dead pixels, but there are loads of them easily at least 10. :(

Also I have noticed that under my "w" key the black layer below is wearing away, something i'm not bothered about really, also the silver paint has chipped off the right mouse button in the centre dimple which really annoys me!!

Finally for the biggy, this laptop has the infamous white bumpers all around it, on the front right of the main chassis on the right edge the bumper has a crack going up, I've never dropped the laptop and its been looked after, the black plastic under it is intact and not cracked.

I just want to know would dell even bother with this? I know its mostly superficial (except for the screen) but I would like my laptop to last some length of time before coming apart!!

wear and tear would not be covered - like the w key

no one covers plastic damages - you might be able to pay for them to be replaced but if you've ever taken a laptop apart you'd realise that you'd probably be better off not having it taken asunder

try for the pixels - but note they won't cover any physical damage unless you paid for the accidental cover

pity they don't make laptops just a little heavier, not panasonic tough , but metal is cheap and acts as a heat sink so 100g or so above the bare minimun would be nice and decent hinges and fewer holes in the base in case you spill liquid near it.

dell has replaced the front and rear of the display panel for me on my 6400 , it had cracked because of a fault in the hinges which was forceing the panel apart

    Hi,

My name is Todd and I'm with Dell's online outreach group. We try to help our customers via blogs and forums.

Definitely call your local Dell support group to get that screen replaced. While they're doing that they can also repair the keyboard and the plastics.

You can contact Dell's technical support from our support pages, http://support.Dell.com. There is a small drop down window on the page that allows you to select the country / region you need help in, and once selected will refresh to take you to the correct pages to help you.

If you have any questions please let me know. I'll stop back to see if there is anything else I can do to try to help.

    Thank you,

    Todd
