    Hi all,

I received a speeding ticket from New Zealand. Can they force me to pay it? I realize that if I were to enter New Zealand again in the future they might give me some stick but I don't plan on doing this anytime soon (if ever).

    Thanks!

You have a moral duty to pay it.

On the other hand, they'll hardly send the heavies around to your gaff for a poxy speeding ticket will they.

Although, the next time The All Blacks are over for a match, I mightn't go near the ground, just in case.

you'll get away with it, i certainly wouldn't pay it if i didn't think i was going back

thats a big statement, unless you have the rest of your life mapped out exactly ....

yeah i suppose it is a big statement alright.. i wouldn't like to commit to never returning to NZ. However, i don't think you would be refused entry on the basis of an unpayed speeding ticket. i suppose it mightn't do any harm to check that out though op!

If you go back to NZ in the future, and if they do stop you, just say

'I'm here to pay the fine'.

My uncle in Canada once got a $50 speeding ticket from the States. Payed it in Canadian Dollars(and there was a ridiculous exchange rate at the time, CAN$50=US$20 or thereabouts)!

I got a speeding ticket in California while on holiday there 3 years ago and never paid it. Went back to America a few months later on another holiday in Florida and had no problems and was back in California last year and hired a car with no problems.

I dont think there is much they can do really, I doubt if they will ask for an extradition order for ya so that you can be sent back to pay the ticket.

California issues arrest warrants for nonpayments of speeding tickets so if you were unfortunate to come across the police for something like speeding again you could be in trouble. It's not up to car hire companies to keep track of people who do or don't pay their tickets.

Thanks for all the replies. Today I received a second ticket, same day, same street, ~two hours after the first one.

Jeez... some dummy has to post on boards to sort this out.

You sound thick enough not to cause any worry to the NZ authorities.

Sorry to be a bit blunt about this ,but pay the fcukin fine and STFU.

I'm going to NZ shortly, send me the money and I'll pay it for you :D

Whooow... Just cannot figure out why some jackass has to use boards.ie to sort this crap out.

I doubt if the NZ authotities are too worried about dummies like this.
