I know that these kinds of threads are rare, but I would like to say a big thanks (and I hope I speak for the rest of the moderators) to all of the people who take their time and make the effort to report posts.

Without the posts being reported, we'd have a much tougher time keeping tabs on spammers and otherwise on stuff that needs to be acted on with some swiftness.

You have absolutely no idea how easy it makes our life to see a reported post and just nuke the post/poster from orbit instead of having to scan half of the site or wait until a mod spots it (on the quieter forums).

With more than 6,500 new posts a day, the moderators can't possibly see everything, so the efforts of concerned users make a huge difference in keeping the place relatively clean.

You're very welcome. I spend about 30hrs a week on this site so reporting the odd post is no problem. I subscribe too but wish there was more I could do.

Modships aren't given out all that often. Be sensible 6th, apply for a moddingy, then work your way up to a modschooner, then maybe you can get a modship.

Agreed.

It is also encouraging that, outside of those who report posts to prove an argumentative point (far rarer than non-mods might think), all reported posts are submitted by those who wish to keep the various fora on the straight and narrow, be they mods or not.

Their collective contributions are as necessary as that of any moderator on the site, and for that they deserve the thanks of everybody here.

This doesn't tell half the story. I reported a post yesterday morning in GAA but it didn't show up in the reported posts list. Yet within an hour of this, RuggieBear had locked the thread and dished out a couple of bans. I am truly amazed.

i work off reported posts, rather than trawling every forum, so for me, reported posts are the way to get my attention.
