I gotta ask why does it have to be a female instructor? There may be a better male instructor in your area.

Also might be better sending this to the learning to drive forum

I learnt from a male instructor and in hindsight im sorry i didnt get a woman, some women just respond better to women
    try ringing the driving schools
    ISM, Airport etc

In fairness, she does have a point. How many male instructors will have experience in applying makeup whilst driving in heavy traffic? This is a vital skill she will need as a woman driver. She needs to learn how to do it properly.

My parents are both driving instructors - with ISM.

They are based in Navan, Drogheda, Dundalk and Slane.

My Mother has just finished instructing a woman from Ashbourne - she passed!

pm me if you want a number.

    Richie.

"Gers Motor School" or something like that... her name is Ger and she lives in Swords... Did 10 lessons with her over the course of a year and I passed my test first time... she'll generally go anywhere in North Dublin for custom... PM me if u want her number...

I really wouldnt see how the gender of a driving instructor would have any impact on how they teach or what the pupil learns. Its a bit like asking what kind of coat you should buy a labrador.

I kind of disagree, solely through my own experience. I went to take my first few lessons last yr and got a woman (first no. in the phonebook) and whilst she seemed great at the time, I didn't feel I was learning as much as I could be and that I was being held back somewhat. So I went and phoned some other guy....he taught me more in an hour than she had in 3....now that's not to say that she couldn't teach and she was a very capable driver, but I just didn't gel with her. Of course different people have different styles of teaching and I could have just as easily had a bad experience with a male instructor. But I didn't.
If the OP's gf feels more comfortable with a woman then that's important as she'll be somewhat more relaxed on the road.

I think one of the most difficult aspects of learning to drive is getting used to sitting in an unfamiliar environment - maybe she would simply feel more comfortable with a female instructor.

I agree with Richie, its not so much about an instructor being male or female but rather how you gel with him/her

I had the same instructor as a friend of mine, she loved him i never really gelled with him.
