How would you do it?

My friend likes a guy who works in the store down the road from us. She's trying to figure out the best way to get to know him or whatever. One suggestion is that she should just be brazen (and entertaining, for us) to hand him a piece of paper with her name and number written on it. Another is just keep trying to strike up conversations with him when she's in there. Another is to straight out ask him out.

So, if you were (or have been) in that situation, how would you go about it?

She could give him a letter with "free shag" written on it, it will almost definitely work!

just ask him, its a 50/50 yes or no

Ask him out, at least you will know one way or the other with all the messing about out of the way.

its not 50/50 if she's got a face like a slapped arse.

And if he's says no, she'll just never be able to use the shop ever again.

It isn't like the only shop around or anything like that, is it?

make small talk, then say that yourself and a few friends are going to <location> later, and they should join.

Play that song "Ummm, I've seen you around, I find you very attractive, would you go to bed with me?"

Let's not be coy here. If a guy likes a girl, the best scenario is for her to go. "Lets have sex" and that's it. Seriously, we're that shallow.

True True, that line will work on almost any guy if the girl is in anyway almost attractive

if some random girl offered me a free shag or asked me to have sex with her out of the blue id be totally freaked out and assume she was a complete slut who probably had just about every infection and disease going around. So don't do that. Ask him out for a drink - can't go wrong, if he's not interested he will more than likely make a lame excuse and nobody will be made a fool out of..

Haha, no, but it might as well be given the volume of hot guys working in shops around here!

We are customers. We're also pretty noticeable, being Irish.

I like that suggestion, but I doubt she'd go for it!

Well it would work if he was attracted to this person. :)
Just ask him own, girl in a shop did that to me last year, but I was the customer, it's not the end of the world!

If he's given her any indication that he's interested (the way he looks at her etc) then she shoudl give him her name & number on a piece of paper and just walk out. It works, although, not if he has no interest.
If she's not sure she should just say "Do ya wanna head for a drink sometime"?
I have to say though, you usually know if a guy is interested from the way he looks at you (they're much more obvious than they intend to be!) so if she's completely unsure as to whether he's interested, chances are he's not if she hasn't noticed.
Having said that...I could be totally wrong. It'd be a first though! :D

Faith, your in California, its normal practice in the states to ask people out on dates. Get you mate to ask him for his number, thats the way they do it over there.

Well Faith, say this 'friend' was away in another country for a while and is on the trip of a life time where there should be no 'holes' barred when it comes to doing stuff, I think this 'friend' of yours should just go right up to this guy, tell him "he's cute and if he's interested in going for a drink, here's my number, give me a call"
    ;)

    Step one.

Walk into the shop to get something simple (pack of biscuits or something), be all friendly, flirty , bubbly and charming. See what his reaction is. Then report back for step two.

I reckon the piece of paper is the easiest and most painless route for both parties.
