Just after noticing we don't have a list of different airsoft manufacturers. For a newbie it could be extremely handy. There are quite a lot of different companies out there. Can be a bit daunting at first.I'm going to try and come up with something, stealing quite a bit from this wiki page

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of..._Manufacturers

If anyone has any comments or suggestions, let me know. Oh, and it's going in the retailer sticky..so don't worry about there being ANOTHER sticky added to the pile

    Good idea :)

Don't forget to put "Vega Force Company" on the list. I've had a number of people ask what make my AKs74N is and when I tell them they always say "Never heard of them" Amazing to me as they are a high end AEG company. /shrug

    Already got it ;)

VFC/GB TECH (Vega Force Company) - Recently began production of Rare and Unique AEGs

    Thank you wiki!

Well that's now up. Another sticky I can give out to newbies for not reading :D

They're piling up, you may have your hands full :p

By the way Oisin VFC is located in Taiwan too.

The lpeg section of the wiki was divided into China and Taiwan. I'm not sure why. Think I'll get rid of that completely. I'm sure not adding VFC to the list of budget guns! :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,314 ✭✭✭Fiach Dubh

True enough. I don't really agree with Wiki's description of VFC either. They have done a couple of unique guns alright such as the Barret light 50 calibre but what VFC is all about is making AEG's that are as close to their realsteel counter parts as possible. That's in looks of course not performance ;) That's what the tagline should be.

Well if you can come up with one I'd be more than glad to add it! Same goes for anyone else who has experience with other manufacturers. That's all more or less a copy and paste from wiki. I've scanned over it but haven't exactly read through it all thoroughly .

    Vega Force Company, Taiwan

An up and coming high quality AEG manufacturer who's business model is very high realism AEG's. VFC AEG's sport full metal construction and real wood furniture, real steel trades both on the AEG's and the magazines they manufacture. VFC's products are aimed more towards milsim players shown by their AEG's coming with a mid-cap magazine rather then the standard high-cap of other manufacturers. Prices for VFC AEG's when you factor in the full metal construction is very good value e.g. their AKS74 series costs $440 or $480 for the N version, this would cost you up to $1000 to build with a kit to the same quality. VFC's external quality surpasses Classic Army and Tokyo Marui.

Internals are on par with Classic Army and their AK series mechboxes contain high quality pistons capable of taking 10.2 Volts without failure. The piston is quite heavy and won't in fact run correctly with an 8.4 Volt battery, a 9.6 Volt minimum is needed.

VFC are currently working on an FN SCAR Light, an FNC and a GP30 grenade launcher. Future products are the AK100 series.

    How's that Oisin?

Might want to clarify the meaning of lpeg.

Might want to read through the noob sticky! :p

    LPEG

Some cheaper and lowered powered AEGs are called low powered electric guns (LPEGs) to distinguish them from the original, more expensive and more powerful AEGs even though their mechanical/electrical design and operation is similar and are not to be confused Mini Electrics. Originally they were only of novelty value, often regarded below spring operated guns due to their cheap building materials and extremely poor performance (attributed to velocities under 100 ft/s).

I was going to. Decided against it though. It's mainly to point newbies toward so we can avoid "what's the bestest airsoft gun?" threads appearing. You don't want to clutter it with information. I was actually tempted to even remove some of the ones already up there.

Yeah, it'll be handy, now all we'll have is CR and KD dueling for the quickest draw, who can post the link/tell them to read it faster:D

On the topic of LPEGs / MPEGs - I'd be cautious in labelling the likes of JG, DBoys/Boyi, etc. as 'LPEGs' (or even 'MPEGs') since most of their current production easily reaches 300 FPS out-of-the-box.

I'm mindful that LPEG/MPEG has been historically used (by the airsoft community) to distinguish between high-end and clones replicas (the first ones of which used to have pretty low FPS) - witness the fact that noone has ever used the 'HPEGs' acronym.

However, now that most clones routinely outperform TM in the power stakes, that's hardly the case anymore, is it?

Change the usasg from Low-Powered-Electric-Gun to Low-Priced-Electric-Gun. Ditto MPEG ... although I always though that was an acronymn for movie files, go figure?

I always feel uncomfortable pointing people to stickies now. It's kindof, sortof borderline moderating. I'm really paranoid about what I post now...

No need to make a new stickey for it but we should have a part about charging times... for eh... the noobs... of course

I didn't use the term lpeg in the sticky. Just in this thread. Out of habit more than anything else. (If it's in that sticky tell me where and It'll be gone)
It's true though, they really are no longer "lpegs" in the true sense of the acronym.

As for the stickies CR..pointing someone toward one if they say "hey, I'm a noob to airsoft, give me information about XYZ" is not moderating. It's being helpful.

Moderation only comes in if you think they've done something wrong. In that case you press the report button. It's directly linked to an alarm in my room you know. All moderators have to have them installed. ;)

But by not reading the stickies and asking a question that is answered in them, that IS doing something wrong....right? :p hehe...I know what you mean.

And I'm pretty sure there was a reference to lpeg in the sticky, but it's gone now...probably when updating the description of one of the manufacturers.

Liamo333 : Banned for 24.9 seconds. No reason.

Shiva : Banned for using poor grammar (The word 'Right' is not a complete sentence. However, this ban is rescinded since he put forward the excellent idea of attaching a tazer to Oisin's leg that we could remotely activate.

Mark_Sc: Banned for 11 ns for mispelling the word 'sticky'.

Hivemind187 : Banned for 9 ns for mispelling the work 'acronym'.

ambro25 : Indefinate ban for the geekiest reply in the thread so far (The comment about 'Moving Picture Expert Group - the file extension was named after the organisation.')

: Banned for 2 mins for using the word 'lol' in a post.

Lethal_Bullet : Banned for life for suggesting that kdouglas could possible beat me in any kind of draw.

Why is there an echo in here all of a sudden??

    <---bans self for excessive banning.

You don't have to imagine. Just play a skirmish with him.

    Oisin's sneaking down the laneway.
Arrrrrrgggghhh!! (as 50 bb's from a 1 joule AEG hit Oisin on the inner thigh.)
Oisin walks away limping for 20 mins.

    Option 1: Get bang kill

Option 2: Shoot Oisin pretty much unarmed, unawares on full auto in possibly the sorest spot on the body.

And that would be the main reason I shall never bang kill you ever! :p
