Hello all. First post from me. Had been lurking for a good while, and decided to take the plunge and make my first post.

Sitting here in an office in Blackrock, and I see a lifeguard helicopter flying around just off the coast. Can hear some sirens of emergency vehicles nearby too. Just wondering if anyone heard what's going on?

Its sure get everyone's attention in here today, shows how busy we all are. :)

Just been over the other side of the building that faces the sea and apparently there are 120 kids in some difficulty out in the sea of the dun laoghaire pier

Several Yachts capsized off Dun Laoghaire.

That must be One of the Dublin Airport Based Irish Coast Guard Sikorsky S61N Helicopters. Operated by CHC Canada for the Irish Coast Guard, not the Lifeguard.

    RTE News wrote:
Up to 120 children had to be rescued from the sea off Dún Laoghaire Co Dublin this afternoon after over 90 vessels capsized during a children's regatta.

It is understood the boats overturned during strong winds near the West Pier at Dún Laoghaire harbour. All of the children were wearing life jackets and all have since been accounted for.

A spokesperson for Dún Laoghaire Harbour Company said that there were 28 knot winds at the time of the incident, which occured at around 2pm.

    28 Boats overturned!

What idiocy led to them being taken out in this weather? Glad they're all ok.

Hmm, thats 5 units of the fire brigade gone through Spiddal now!

Bay seems to be full of boats out now on a rescuing mission, and 2 helicopters flying around.

    Hope there are no tragedies.
The noise of all the ambulances seems to subsided now.

Alot of children fell in the water. Its believed that most were rescued, but they're still searching just to be safe.

    Hope everyone is OK.

Is this the plane crash you're on about or is this yet another one? Only says four injured though.
