Was playing in a friends house the other day and this hand came up,

We all chiped in €10 and got 1000 chips

We are all mates so dont really pay attention to reads as we are always messing about,

Down to 3 people there has been a few re-buys and i'm on 2400

I've delt 1010 and raise to 700 (blinds are 50/100) I was 1st to act

Player to my left Calls(6000+chips) other folds.

    Flop come 2 5 9 rainbow, pot is 1500 and i have 1700 left,

I push all in and he thinks for about 30 seconds and calls.

He turns over QQ.. Why didnt he raise pre flop.. did i play this wrong, ?

You were going to lose all your chips there.

Probably put you on a strong A, maybe AK and wanted to see if one (A or K) came on the flop before he got his stack in.

Edit to say, just because you think reads aren't used, doesn't mean he won't at least put you on a range of hands

I'd say he called your raise thinking you'd probably two high cards. If an A or K came on the flop he obviously wouldnt be too happy and I'd say would have folded to a big bet and considered himself lucky that he was able to get away from the hand relatively cheaply (700).

When you went awwwwwww iiiin I'd say the 30 sec pause was either to:

    a) having a laugh by making you sweat for a bit
    b) he was feeling his hand was vulnerable somehow and was trying to figure out what you could have
edit: c) making you and others think he only played with good hands

You might have raised a wee bit less preflop, say to 400 or 500 (or else just pushed - but wouldn't really like that with the blinds so small) then the post flop betting might have gave you a bit more info but even then - very hard to get away from something like that.

What were his bets n raises like previously with good hands?

He must have wanted to trap you for all your chips.

    Looks like it worked.

ah i dont mind about the chips , I bought back in and knocked him down about an hour later,

I was holding 93os in the big blind, he had AA and slow played it so i got to see a flop out comes 3 10 3.

At this stage i was back to about 5000 and he was on about 6500 blinds where 200/400 . He checked i checked(slow playing) and the turn was a A, He bets 2k and reraise all in, He calls and the river is another 3 :) I won the whole thing in the end :)

    Horrible... but em, well done!

I think it was just position that made him "slow play" his queens. If he was in your position then he would have raised but seeing as you were happy to bet into him, he was happy to just flat call hoping an A or K wouldn't come on the flop.

Can you explain your reasoning for behind playing this hand? I don't really understand..

He wanted his friend to bet with a worse hand on the turn or river, as he knew he would be well ahead with three 3's.

ya i checked my trips hoping he bet out on the turn, and it worked.
