I have been searching around websites to find a decent lightweight electric golf trolley.

    Can anyone advise?

They all seem to be 18 kg++ (9kg battery, 9kg frame), but this si still a little heavy.

Motocaddy is one I have come accross which only has a 7.5 kg battery. But I don't know if its available in Ireland. Or, if it has been tried out.

    Can anyone help?

    /BB

Have a Mocad one since April and am happy with it. Battery has never run out during a round but I am yet to test it over 36 holes, but friends have told me that it can do the 36 and a little more (obviously depends on the terrain).

One issue I have had slapped me in the face on Tuesday evening when playing a club foursomes matchplay competition. Left the cart to the left of the third green in Lucan, and went off to repair a pitch mark and line up a putt. 30 seconds later I turned round to see our opposition dragging my cart out of the stream which runs alongside the green - the whole cart & cubs had gone in!! (Had to play rest of match with soaking bag & clubs - beaten on the 19th).

You see, ever since I bought the cart, when I turn the power switch to the "off" position, the cart still seems eager to move. I'd liken it to having the handbrake half-on in a car, but still revving the engine like hell. I've been meaning to get it replaced/fixed for weeks now but have been putting it on the long finger.

Anyhow, rang Mocad this morning (they're based in in Cork), and the lady on the phone said she should would send me up a replacement switch by post, with instructions on how to fix. Seemingly, it's a simple procedure. If this does not fix the problem, she said they would get a replacement cart to me.

So, happy enough with the cart so far, will be delighted with it when I get the replacement switch fitted, and happy with the level of service.

There's a guy from Wicklow selling these on eBay! Looks like it may do the job for you. Very cheap also. I asked him about shipping for them and he said he could meet me at Jack Whites Pub or The Beehive to collect it!

How much for cash? Looks good that.

£86 works out at about €120 odd. Because he's listing them in a auction, you'll have to bid. But I've been monitoring them over the last week or so, and he hasn't had many bids. I'd say this might be more to do with the cost of shipping outside of Ireland that has turned people off.

Spec-wise, it completes favourabley against mocad, powakaddy and the likes

I have the MOCAD for about 3 years and it is a good machine to use. It will struggle to do 36 holes. Battery life is not the best. My first battery lasted 18months and they say they should last for 2 years with normal use.

You could try a hillbilly trolley they are a uk brand very light and get a very good review on todaysgolfer.co.uk.You should go to this website anyway as they list and review all makes of carts even down to their weight I think.I myself use and swear by the powacaddy as I find it the most reliable I have ever used.
