    Hi all,

Not sure if people heard about these garda tshirts on the news. Seemingly someone has the right to sell tshirts with the garda logo on it. Does anyone know anymore about this, ane mainly where you can but them?

    Cheers.

Ha Ha deadly! I'd get one if they were for sale! My NYPD one is getting a bit haggered looking at this stage!

Does that mean that the Garda symbol isn't patented/copywritten?

If that's the case, couldn't a devious person copyright that sign as their own, and thus cause an awful lot of hassle....or make an awful lot of money!

I get DFB (Dublin Fire Brigade) T-shirts from a friend. Nice logo on front and DFB in big bold letters like on NYPD t-shirts.

Have you got a picture of them? Does your friend sell them to the public?

Will post pic later. Im sure a limited number could be made available or ask a member of DFB if you know them.

Cool. Cheers Ron, would love to see them. Thankfully I havent had any dealings with the DFB directly :D

They just don't have the same ring to them as NYPD... probably because the Gardai just aren't in every major film :(

actually i think it devalues the guards

why are they allowing this in the first place is it an income earner?

I never would have thought this is what the Government meant by getting more Gardaí on the street :)

"Guard, come quick! There's an accident down the road!"
"Nah mate, I just have the t-shirt! You like it?"

    :D
Actually I'd like one to wear abroad or give to overseas friends (if it's nice looking).

    Garda impersonators prehaps?

I suppose the people who are making these items are hoping it will catch on like FBI, NYPD, FDNY etc
Though since Garda is not an abbreviation it might not... Hey might work for PSNI though :D

In future though, if the gardai can win the respect of the majoarity of people they are supposed to protect then it might work out.
Its a shame they are not respected and the same goes for the fire brigades. Skangers calling them out to ambush them for the laugh... its rediculous.

You know... i can just see skangers deciding it will be a laugh to walk around with garda baseball caps.

If anyone can get their hands on a baseball cap for me I would be very grateful. PM for details. Thanks

Edit I'm not a skanger. It would just be a great novelty.
