Derry’s John Duddy is winding up his training camp at the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania ahead of his homecoming bout on the next Hunky Dorys Fight Night at the National Stadium, Dublin on July 14th.

Duddy will arrive in Dublin this weekend ahead of his ten round bout with Italy’s Alessio Furlan accompanied by new trainer Don Turner.

The veteran American is a new addition to Duddy’s team following a parting of the ways with previous trainer Harry Keitt. Following an intensive training camp high up in the picturesque Pocono Mountains both teacher and student are already more than please with the new arrangement.

Is it just me or is ticket prices of 50 to 160 euro taking the p1ss?

Would really like to go to this but I doubt I will convince anyone to go at those prices. Is it being shown on the telly?

is anybody else disappointed with Duddy´s progress or lack there of over the last couple of years?

maybe it was because he started his career in such explosive fashion koing fellow unbeaten prospects etc.

but to me it now seems that he s choice of opponent is stagnating with each fight. there doesnt seem to be any step up. I know there s no rush but I would have seen him pushing the top 10 and maybe going after a belt by this stage....

See BoxRec have him ranked 12 so he's isn't to far off and even the guys he has fought is his last few fights have had decent records but I agree that he will need to start fighting for major belts and I think he is trying to move himself into position for a shot at the European title which is a stepping stone for him.

I disagree, I think Duddy is bang on if not a little ahead of himself. The guys only had 20 pro fights, I would be happy if he had another 4 or 5 fights before a European title or ABC world title fight

I think he's going at the right pace at the moment-he should fill the stadium a couple of times then the point and then look at titles..
